Nice tack mount! Very innovative.
How does the springplate jig work? Do you force the spring plates to line up with the axles in that position?

How does the springplate jig work? Do you force the spring plates to line up with the axles in that position? I removed the torsion bars from the car and had the bolts that hold the axle tubes to the spring plate loose. The fixture bolts to the tubes to get them in a straight line and then I tightened the axle tube bolts. Now I can mark where the tubes are in relation to the spring plates and be sure that I have no toe in or toe out when the ride height is is also flat. The marks can also give a starting point if a little toe in or toe out is desired.

The jig looks great. Might not be a bad idea to measure the distance from rear axle to front axle and tweak it so there's little to no "dog leg" (both sides track straight, less rolling resistance) Just a thought

You're right Ray. I think that is why the old marks are off. I like to find the centerline of the car and then measure from the center of the front to each side in the rear and then visa versa for the front end. I am planning on starting with zero toe in the rear and very slight negative toe-in in the front on this car. I'm looking for straight line stability and minimum drag. This is a whole different ball game than what I'm used to, so we will see how it works out.

I don't know Mike, those aluminum shims are pretty heavy. I'll probably run them anyway. Today's project was to get the front end down. This car will have both torsion bars in the front at least in the beginning. I rotated the anchors to get the trailing arms about level. You can see here how much the top anchor was moved compared to the bottom one. Cut the bottom one after the pic and got them both re welded. Ran out of time for reassembly.

if you slot them you can adjust them some but bad thing they wont stay tight and they will move thats what mine did so i welded them after they got adjusted one last time

Well we did it again. Process improvements have allowed us to equal all of 2011's production of mid mounts in less than one day. (See project 68 thread). While we have not yet secured a gov't grant to start production on these parts, the future seems bright indeed. We are still copying Old Speeds design and skinning the part out like the communists do, but right here in the USA. You have probably heard that the Chinesse GDP in trending downward, and with this midmount, you now know why.............. Plans are to tack it in place and do the finish welding when the body and pan are seperated again. Hopefully soon. ;D

Any chance you want to go into production? We are in production................ Volume is kinda low, however ;D The real reasons that I'm making my own on these rather than just using the Old Speed one is the 3/16 material. I think this is 1) a more appropriate thickness for a good welding condition to the pan material, 2) more than stong enough (especially with the 1600), 3) lighter than 1/4 inch, and 4) allows me to fit it to the specific pan it is going to be used on.

I just happen to a a hunk of 1/2 inch that we could make one out of.......................... Well, OK, I think there is another hunk of 3/16 inch also That would double the 2011 production!!!!!!!
