Bren and I had a Lexan-apalooza yesterday. It really worked out well as Bren did the work and I stayed out of his way really well I weighed the resulting windows and compared them to stock to see how much the weight of the 67 will be reduced. Front door glass, Vent window assy, & window regulator was 11.2 lb per side Vs 2.4 lbs for a "one piece" style Lexan Rear side window is 5.2 lb Vs 1.6 for Lexan Back window is 9.0 lb Vs 2.8 for Lexan Windshield 11.2 lb Vs 3.2 for Lexan Total weight reduction for the 67 is 39 lb. This is using 1/8" Lexan and using the window rubber seals to install them. The door windows will be attached with screws in a fixed position inside the lip of the door for a sorta stock appearence rather than flush mounted.

Lexan-apalooza. It was fun, thanks for the help. (Really, Rudy did help!) I need to calculate my total reduction.

Removed some weight from the 67 today. The front tar board on the tunnel was already gone, but the rear ones came off today for a savings of 2-1/2 lb. I noticed something in the door post on the pass side and got a needle nose plier to pull it out. This turned out to be quite a job as I reached down in from the trunk side, used an extension magnet, and ended up with Beth using a shop vac from the interior side and me using an air nozzle from the trunk side. We removed a lot of sand and debris plus this is another 1/2 lb of junk that wasn't vacuumed away. The most interesting thing is the 5/8 dia steel balls ? or is it the K-mart shoe horn ?

You weren't supposed to find those steel balls in there....

Still picking away at those pounds. I used old coat hangers to dig the foam out from between the inner and outer rear quarter panels. Over 3 lb of the stuff! Cleaned up the area around the rear window and went form this: to this: Notice that I cut off the extended portions of the metal along the roof that held the headliner. On the 70, I hammered these down, but I like the result a lot better this way. It also let me notice that there was more FOAM around the rear window. Got the coat hangers back out: Most of it got vacuumed up, but even this with the metal clips and a hunk of headliner I found above the window weighed nearly 1 lb. Beth said I should look up obsessive/compulsive in the dictionary. Wonder why? ? Haven't actually had time to look it up.........to busy trying to find more weight to remove

Hey Rudy, that's not a 5/8" ball from a bearing - its a ammo round from the civil war. Don't worry... I've contacted the Historic Society. They were talking about possibly impounding your car for a historical site ;D
All kidding aside; looks like you're doing a great job at finding any & all excess weight. Nice Job and thanks for sharing!

Still puttsing along with the 67. Greg set up a trans for me with 3.80/2.06/1.32/1.04 gears and a 4.37 ring and pinion. I worked on cleaning up and re-installing the axles today. Next step will be to get the brakes on it. Also cleaned up the hood hinges: Surprized that it only saved a little over 1 lb per side, thought it would be more

Nicely done. Are you still going to use the springs?

Springs are way too heavy ;D ;D ;D
I'm thinking of an aluminum prop rod on one side only.
