Here's a couple of pics of my current project. Bought this on eBay a couple of years ago as a bare shell and pan. Had no rear suspension and front was just the beam and trailing arms, no spindles etc. The car is originally from AZ, so it's pretty clean, however, it did spend a little time in MI. The plan is to get it roadworthy and all sorted out. Then tear it back apart and make it nice cosmetically. As you can see it is back on its feet. Still a ways to go yet.

looks like a great car to start with. Whats the goal for this one? Anything special?

Just want to make a clean looking street car, but not 100 per cent original. It is lowered one notch in the rear and I put avis adjusters in the front. Maybe it will get a 1300cc mileage maker motor, non stock front seats (Corbeau or Sparco perhaps), etc. Just want to get it going for now.

My wife has really slowed this project down. Really it's my fault. I'd planned on some quickie body work and get it rollin'. We talked about it and she said "you better do it good enough for you to like it for 5 yrs or so." I listened (I always do...). Anyway, this generation of this car will be a little nicer than originally planed. Haven't been able to work on it much either. Here's a shot from 7-10 Today I spent 6 hours on the engine compartment, getting rid of all the tabs and stuff for the tar boards and cleaning it up real good, and sanding. Took it from this to this Hoping to play with it some more next week. New goal for running is 8/14..................

Running by 08/14! Sounds ambitious. You must work fast!
What do you plan to do instead of the tar board in the engine compartment?

You guys are getting ahead of me. 8/14 is target for running, but not plated, insured, with lights etc. Tar boards are no longer for this car, just paint. The trim level will be similar to the euro 1200L. Kinda like our 1975 110 Std Beetles. The next step is the interior. More scraping glue and sanding etc. Can't wait
OOPS! I think its 1200A. Plain Jane anyways

Not trying to rush you, really!
So are you not concerned about the noise level without the tar board? Or, do you find that it does not really do that much for stopping the noise?

Time will tell, but I think it will be motor sounds, which are fine with me. Will find out, hopefully soon!!!!!!

Still cleaning and sanding and getting rid of junk I don't need on the car. Look at all this unnecessary stuff found in the doors: Got the interior looking fairly clean: Found some features not needed on the hood too:

It's a street car ;D I might have gotten carried away a bit, but the idea is going to be kinda a cross between a German Look and a Ratrod..................it'll be the first one on our block! In its next life, the Rat part will give way to a shinny paint and real body work, but this will be ok for now.
