Love this car. Glad to see you have it out. Now whats up with the 67 Drag car?

Thanks for the kind words guys. The 70 may just stay a racecar after all. They do get scary at those speeds!! Lighter wheels... what rpm were you at on the top end? The Land Speed rules encourage steel rims and weight isn't that much of a penalty if you can still accelerate to top speed. I had these tires mounted on 8 spokes for the 70 and changed to the steel rims just for this event. The half mile speeds were 85 and 86 mph so I think that 95.0something was about all it had. The car has a 914 tach in it that showed about 5400 rpm, but it actually calculated 4800 at that speed. This engine is the one that is destined to go in the 67 initially. I still hope to get the 67 on the track this year, but then tear it apart and make it pretty over the winter.

Car looked really good Rudy. Glad to see it on the road. I think that maroon trim really sets it off.

( I know a guy that lives over on Greenly that has a NOS Treuhaft front air dam...)

A chin spoiler would undoubtably help. The T/O stands for "Time Only" which means the car meets the safety requirements for the speed it will run, but does not fit in any specific class structure. So it could use any aero device I'd want. EXCEPT, I want stock Bug appearence. Long term goal for the car is to set it up to SSS1600BB class that they run at Bonneville. That doesn't allow much aero modification. My thoughts are to perhaps lower the front a little more, make the front camber a little positive instead of a little negative, and move the battery to the spare tire well. The next event is only 3 weeks away and conflicts with the GVSU autox and the last one conflicts with the Bug Run, so I have almost a year to figure it out

Rudy - Have you heard about the Michigan Mile Race at the Field of Flight here in Battle Creek in a few weeks? It's a similar event to the one you were just at - how fast can you go in a mile. It's going to be held at the WK Kellogg Airport. Not sure what it takes to become a participant. Check out the festival site at bcballoons.com.

Thanks Todd. I did check it out, e-mailed the organizers, and had hoped to run there, but their lowest class is for 180mph and has safety requirements to match. My car doesn't meeet those specs and the changes required just wouldn't be worth it. Sure would be nice to run that close to home.
