I like the matt black idea. Maybe just chrome bumper bolts.

I almost forgot that car. The original intention of this project was replaced by the '68.
Just put insurance on the '70 this week, but it still needs wires and side windows in the doors. Will be back on it soon.

And I thought this was something new you were working on. I now see what you were talking about. Looks great.

Yeah, poor thing was neglected pretty bad this year. The back half of the car is wired up and got the wheels and tires mounted. Not much progress for a whole summer, but it will be better next year

IT'S ALIVE ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Drove it down the block and back. This is the first time the car has moved under its own power in many years. The steering column is from a 74 and I had wired the ignition to terminal "x" insted of "15" and "x" is for accessory items. "x" goes off when the car is being cranked over. Started right up once I figured this out. This was an "condition unknown" trans and it worked very well. Brakes were great and ride seemed just like I'd hoped for, very firm but not rough. Hard to tell anything for sure in such a short distance, but will be getting more of the little things squared away over the next few weeks. Can't wait to really hit the road with it.

Yep, sorry Steve, it is just plain ol' oil pressure. The plan is this will be a fun street car. Lots of little things to do yet and need to get windows in the doors. Planning on 1pc removable windows for the doors.

Well, we made it to the Ohio Mile last Sat with the 70 Beetle. The engine was changed to my blueprinted stock 1600 with a single 34PICT-3 carb. The VW brochure lists the top speed of a 71 Bug at 81mph (yeah, I know, your brother-in-law had one that would do 140). Well the time of the runs for the 70 came in at 95.0771mph and 95.0972mph. I am pretty proud of those numbers! My car sits a little higher in the front and I was runnig the toe-in as close to zero as I could get it. To say that the steering was light at that speed doesn't begin to describe it. I'm going to have to figure out how to plant the front a little better before I go again. The car was really well recieved by both the spectators and competitors alike. They told me of other Bugs running there in the past, but we were all on our own this day. Here's the 70 in Land Speed "trim": Attachments:
