Ok.... epic fail on the de airification of the front suspension. Until I replace the beam/springs I need the air shocks to keep the front end from dragging on the ground. At this point the beam adjusters and springs are so goofed up they will not do what they were designed to do. Soooooo while the car is functional it is not suspended as the good Dr. designed. I did have luck replacing the rag joint ends that were all old and stripped out so now when I turn the steering wheel it actually turns the wheels!! WOW! instead of just stripping the already stripped splines. Luckily the splines on the newish trw steering box is strong stuff and cleaned up ok. So with the exception of the bouncy house front suspension all is well till I redo the beam, waiting on CB Performance to give me the end result on what they wish to do with my defective beam.

Well here is what happened. So I go cone racing last Sunday and after one run the front end gets all wonky. So I check it out and the upper controle arms are pulling out AGAIN! This beam is a menace. So I call CB and lay it out. They say, sure ship it yourself with your money to us and we will inspect it. If we feel there is indeed an issue we will give you another beam and reimburse you for the shipping (gee thanks) meanwhile my freakin car is down. Grrrrr. So I think Ill still make Barnums show then take it down and send in the beam. There is no way Im driving it to Martin (3 hours) this way. So looks like I get to be invisable this show. And I was going to run the NOS this show.... Oh well, no reason to wreck it over this.

Dan:
That sucks! Still, better than having your front wheels fall off.
If you want to go Martin, you are more than welcome to ride with me in the Pig of Plastic. I'll give you a call.

Beam I picked up from Rudy. At this point I had stripped it down to get rid of some surface rust. Beam is actually in nice shape. i1002.photobucket.com/albums/af142/danielmpierce/1353666_10151857678876112_1050284072_o_zpsfb0e5fec.jpgLooked around the garage for some black paint but all I had laying around was some engine paint I had from the 79 bug. So I used that. I mean its mostly to seal it as you really don't see it anyway. Another of my projects, its an 80's rotary lift. It was outside for 6 years and needs some TLC. I should have it up and running soon. I see it yellow with black legs and red pads The power unit was stored inside so its in much better shape than the rest of it. Waiting on hoist parts. Meantime get Ally ready for the color tour.

Think sunroof in the drywall for the roof to fit into. Also works as an elevator to take things into the attic.

In other news. New beam and springs are in. Ran out of time to put on the control arms/strg gear and such, so hope to tackle that tomorrow. The hoist is also almost ready for prime time and the new cables are installed and calibrated, new hoses installed and the system is alive and working. Still need to install the floor anchors and that is hopefully a Sunday/Monday job. Then Im going to paint it so It looks as good as it works.

Yes it was. I upgraded to an actual cut out solinoid as I kept burning those up as they ran on 7 volts and the resistors would fail at about one per month. Mind you the throttle bodies were free scrap from work at the tine bit still.

got the strg gear in and the right side tie rod end assy on the left inner tie rod end threads are fubar so that will grind things to a halt till tomorrow. Then its hubs and brakes, alignment and test drive.
Got both locks now working on the hoist and am going to put in the floor bolts sunday/Monday. Got some paint removal discs and tried it on a spot and it works great. The hoist will look awesome when painted.
