Ok update on Ally. She for the most part has been running very well this year. Had a loose carb issue at the last bug run, then played with timing for a bit. The main annoyance this year has been the front susp. Last wintee I installed a new adj beam and all new ball joints and a quick ratio pitman arm. Well it works like poop. After 4 not free alignments the best I can say is it goes strait. Car is not wanting to turn real well though. Found that the upper adj is siezed in the beam, that the ball joints are siezed as well lending to a ver hard steering beetle... so options... I can tear it all down, try to torch the upper adjuster and get it to move, then replace the miserable springs and control arms/bj with some quality parts. Orrrrrr spend a little more and replace the whole shebang with an Airkewled unit... its only moneu right? In unrelated news,,,, Ally gets some Vynal graphics this week, to be shown off at the next show (barnums) should be fun.

Sorry to hear about Ally's front end issues.
I personally HATE adjustable beams...the lower they go, the heavier and more twitchy the steering gets. I have read about shims that can be installed to help, but have never tried them.
I used CB forged drop spindles or the Pig of Plastic. Puma's sold in this country had to have the headlights raised to be legal. (MG had the same problem with the "B" and the "Midget". Their solution, nothing short of brilliant, in a twisted British soft of way. The redesigned their front springs so that they settled about an inch or so when they were first driven. It took a few months, but they looked, and handled MUCH better when the process was completed.)
I drove a Puma coupe with about a million horsepower (3 liter Porsche 6) and a puma adjustable beam up front. It was scary fast, and it was absolutely terrible to drive. The front was dropped about 3 to 4 inches via the adjusters. With the tiny steering wheels needed to actually fit in a Puma coupe, you had to have arms like Popeye to turn the darn thing,
My steering is heavy, but gets much better the faster you go. (But really, officer, it's better to drive at this speed...)
I am going to experiment with the toe-in up front to see if I can make it better, the Puma has 185/14's up front, and 205's out back. Factory handling package.
I would also check you stabilizer.
One thing that you should check to determine if there are geometry issues is to see how Ally drives in reverse. If she steers a great deal better, you should be able to do some adjustments to make her turn in better.
Good luck, and remember, it's all FUN!

Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery Interesting. The beam is a puma beam from CB performance. It Seems that maybe that is a beam issue. Strange the old setup which was a stock beam with springs removed to get the stance seemed to work MUCH better. Well the plan at this point is to hit up CB for a replacement beam. If that fails torch the top of the beam to see if I can loosen the top adj. I think either way I may buy a set of control arms with special ball joints for lowered beams and replace the springs with a new set. Im taking out the air shocks (already have a buyer) and installing some empi lowered shocks Ive picked up from Barnums. I will make this work. Even if I need to get a stock beam and start from scratch (original is gone now). Im not doing much of anything this second other than to play with it.

Good to know about the ball joint modification. We shall see how that works into the repair.
