So, I was thinking.... (I know, oh boy here we go.)
What if we did our own bracket race at the test and tunes? We could do it all on paper, if the track won't run the bracket tree for us. We set a dial in and write it down. Draw names for who races who first then go from there. Red light = you lost. Who ever ran closest to their dial wins the run. Break out = you lost Both break out = who ever broke out the most lost.
If we did this we then equalize the cars. I still like the idea of staying close to stock at first. Makes it affordable for anyone who wants to come play. However, the main idea behind this whole discussion was to get more people out on the track. Bracket racing equalizes the cars no matter what they are running. If we practice bracket racing during test and tune we are then more prepared for actual races as most are all bracket races that we would participate in. This would also have the benefit of not really needing any rules about motor size, car weight, etc.
What do you think?

I had almost identical thoughts for our Drag Days.
I think we could do it, but ought to select a couple of specific dates to try it out. Do you envision a separate entry fee with a payout, or just bragging rights?
We need more cars!!!!!!

I thought about a entry fee/payout too. Would be fun if you win that night your entrance fee is paid by the other participants or something like that. Maybe everyone pays in a small amount and the winner gets that pot of money.
We do need more cars; for sure!
I even envisioned inviting water coolers to join us. Bracket racing with no class separation.
Maybe we do this as part of every midnight madness? Other test and tunes could be just that, test and tune.

How about everybody that is even remotely interested in starting our own mini series to come out to the test and tune this Sat and have a round table kind of discussion?
Who will be there? Myself, I am going either way.
We started this concept talking about 1600cc racing, but soon learned that it would be counterproductive to have specification rules as everybody had different starting points and goals for their cars.
I think the thing we agree on is that we are talking about cars that are less stressed and more reliable, less power for lower cost, and we are trying to get a handle on how to run somewhat similar times. Is this correct? Hopefully whatever we come up with won't exclude anyone regardless how slow or fast their cars are. The idea is: race more, break less, spend less. Correct?

Latest talk is not to have a class with rules but to do a bracket race. That way anyone can race no matter what they have.
