Dan:
Is that a new carb hex-bar linkage I see? Looks like the same thing as the one in the Pig of Plastic...

Well Yes that is a new linkage. I also replaced the throttle cable as well. I fixed up a few things actually. And I did fire her up today. I also think I swapped the lines to the oil filter with the end result of a blown filter no real damage. Ill swap out the loser filter for an HP1 filter and then aught to be ready for the road. Mad Mike I got an extingisher under the rear seat. Frankly been running those filters since the late 80's without any problem ever. Yes Ive seen others have fires but thats usually due to old lines.

Hey Dan,even when the Oil lines are on right You can blow a filter seal Never rev a cold motor HP-1's help ;D when the pressure is 60lbs with 20w50oil @ 2500 rpm's on my dayly driver I take it REAL easy on the way to town ;D ;D I run the cheapy gas filters too without issues for years but I have them out of harms way ;D i hope So How's Ally's driving habits now? ?

Well due to having to work late tonight and an RC airplane meeting/pizza party Tuesday I probably wont be able to wrap it up till wed. I just need to swap the oil filter lines (stupid mistake) and get another small turn out of the left rear axle nut so I can put the pin in. then just pop on the wheels and Im off. The steering and the no slip clutch aught to be the big payoffs. Also may drive a little different due to the change in gearing.... We shall see (wed). If I coulda finished it Sunday I woulda but I was getting punch drunk and needed to step AWAY from the Ally before I hurt myself or the poor car... I hope I didnt do any damage due to the filter issue. I dont think I did. We shall see.

Well the test drive went ok.. sorta. It drives great lots more powerful and smooth though due to a tad of popping at idle the sync on the carbs is probably a tad off. I parked it at work and went out an hour later and sure enough still has a coffie cup sized oil stain (!@#$%^&* Oh well. Its gotta be the block in the rear of the engine somewhere. How will I ever find it though to run it, it needs to be in the stand that covers that area. Ill see if it leaks as well as it did last time after I drive it a bit.

Bummer Dude,Coffee cup size is just a few drops,Oil speads , A tablespoon can be over a foot in Diameter over night ,Isn't ther some dye you can put in the oil to find leaks,If it were mine I'd clean real good (brake clean) before i put it on the test stand, get the filter out of my ShopVac and dust the $hit out of the area i think it comming from and run it !! remove from stand and you should be able to see a clean spot where it's leaking ;DAs long as the clutch don't get soaked again and your not Keeping the oil companys Stocks too high drive it

Test drove the snot out of it during lunch. Is WAY faster. Still cutting out at high rpm full throttle like its running out of fuel a bit. May need a tad richer high end jet (whichever that one is). And it leaks oil as bad as ever, drip drip drip when running. A little less when stopped. Ill put dye in it in November and take it out AGAIN! till then I will drive it and stock up on oil

May play with that next year. Also may be the gas or the plugs according to my fellow coworkers. Im just going to drive it for right now then later Ill get into all that. Also determined there is a grunch in the new trans when down shifting into 2nd gear. Its ok going into it and its ok downshifting to any other gear. So.... RUnning great. 2nd gear downshift needs work and still leaking oil. Hmm I see the engine and trans comming out again this winter.

Dan:
Run a can of Seafoam through Aly too. Put it in before the color tour...I have had much better success with this when I put a can in before a long drive.

Matt what'cu smoke'in 170-180 mains are way to big I'm thinking 145-155's Dan just pull the tops off the filters and the jet holders are right ther between the stacks, they just unscrew #'s are stamped on the jets ;D Attachments:

Which one is the one used for full throttle?? To be perfectly honest I took another drive this afternoon at lunch and I dont think Ally has EVER run as sweet as it is running right now. Now If I can only stop the oil spillage at least it is not any worse than before. She'll ride. Dan
