Well Ally is running. Most all ok with a few odd notes. The starter sounds horrible and is not shimmed correctly or something, never been an issue before. Ill look into it. Also an odd pully hitting tin sound. I did put the crank tin back on this time and as before it sounds like its hitting the pully, not a big deal and Im sure I can pry it away or let it wear down the back of the aluminum pully and let it fix itself. Its not too loud so It cant be hitting that hard. Also its leaking oil like a siv from the left lower part of the block (push rod tubes?) Ill check later while running. Need to make an exhaust tube to the outside so I can run it with the heater on. figured out a few things. Starter sounds were due to it being loose (retightened) oil is leaking from my brand new cb push rod tubes (grrrrrrrr) at the engine block side. and the other odd noise I think is a pully issue and I just am not worried about that. So Im down to push rod tubes. Not a huge deal but would rather be repairing that outside of the car. I really am not sure I can remove the heads on this beast with it in, hence why I bought the cb pushrod tubes that come out "easier". I may have to remove them all and silicon the engine side which is BS as the "improved" seals they have should not make this necessary. Im A tad upset and will walk away from the car for a bit.

Hey Dan, I feel for ya ,I've used all kinds of tubes ,(except JayCee @ $90 ) and they all leaked I've been having great luck with Stock for the last few years ,but I may need the larger tubes with this latest 2276 build

Thats just it, the tube does not leak. Its the seal at the end of the tube. I think If I change them from the white seals to the orange ones Ill be fine. Taking those tubes out though is goign to be a bugga.

Ive been thinking on this and ya know Ive never really warmed up the motor. Maybe those silicon seals dont mold to the block till they get hot. It is pretty cold in the garage.. will run it in tonight and see If that takes care of it.

OK, Hunted down the leaks and strange noises one at a time and have beat them into submission! While the push rod tubes have some small seapage nothing like before. This is the most leak free Ally hase ever been. In order here is what I found and how I fixed it. Strange starter noise was due to the starter being VERY loose (hey man Im pretty sure I tightened it!) fix, tighten the thing to spec. Weird noise from the alternator, found that the pully was loose (you see a pattern?) (BAD DAN!) ok so retightened that to spec. Odd hammering noise from the left bank and a very persistant oil leak from the left bank. Found that one of the cylinder studs was too long and was being hammered by the rocker assy, also that same pesky stud was leaking at the block. So removed the stud (it was a bear to get out as I locktighted those buggers) and cleaned it and shortened it and then reinstalled with sealer (viola big leak and noise gone). As I ran the engine in and got it nice and hot the leaks from the pushrod tubes went down to a trickle. Next is cleanup, need to adj the clutch cable and put the wheels on and fix a small electrical issue on the speedo, hook up one last wire in the interior and Im ready for spring at which time I can retest the front suspension and if it passes muster will then align it and drive the poo out of it. Now I can help some others with their projects.

Look who is on all fours again! Well adjusted the clutch and put some plastic conduit on some exposed wiring and installed the wheels and let her down. Ally is back in the world of the living. After the weather is in the 60's or so Ill get to the tuning and realignment of the front end and we can start spring. Next..... a friend with a wabbit needs some motor mounts and I have this scooter to put together, and of course then there are the planes.... The saga continues.

Its no biggie. When you look at it as a whole it looks intimidating but when you look at each system it is not so bad. I will admit there is a lot of wiring all over the vehicle. But it all works and makes the car more pleasent to put miles on. Now if I can only figure out the heat issue I may use the heater buddy mini propain this year as Im making a removable shelf to replace the rear seat bottom for when I dont have passengers (99% of the time anyway) So Ill make a place to house the heater buddy so it cant tip over or melt anything. Will also be the platform to house the Nitro and base boxes that I want to make smaller than the monster I have now. ;D
