Since it is an enamel, you do not clear coat it. My car has not been driven a lot over the past 3 years, but I have seen no dulling with the paint. I figure if it is good enough fora farm tractor, it ought to hold up on a VW.

I was hoping you were going to say that. I want to give that paint a try. Looks good.

Bren...all of the paint applied to this car over the years was the Valspar Tractor and Implement enamel. The orange was Kubota Orange, originally teamed with Ford Gray. I later changed the gray to Low Gloss Black. I've gone through so much paint that Tractor Supply has me on their preferred shopper list!
In the interest of full disclosure, I would not use this paint for a show car. I am cheap by nature, so found it rewarding to be able to get an above average paint job for under $50.
What are you thinking of painting?

By the way, that paint sample chart did not scan well. The colors are much better in real life.

Making some progress this weekend....installed the front fenders and lights. Just the hood, running boards and moldings left.

What are you thinking of painting? We, Steve and I, are both building 64 beetles for drag racing only. Looking for a good looking but cheap paint job. This seems like the perfect solution. Now, if I can just convince Jason to use the stuff

Car is looking great. I bet you are really glad you did not cut the front apron. I really like the painted headlight rings.

Thanks, Bren....I am also thankful I did not trash the rear apron when I cut it off a few years ago!

I will probably go this route with mine once I get the one piece front end. Transport Yellow on mine :] right now its a custom mixed color the PO made up, with a pearl clearcoat. Duplicolor and Ace school bus yellow are an EXACT match except for the pearl (which I really don't like anyway). So I imagine transport yellow should be the same :] Its nice to not have to use a clear coat, it makes touching up scratches SO much easier. What about this paint makes it inappropriate for a show vehicle? I'm just curious, with proper prep, and proper follow up, I could imagine you could get a show quality finish.

True, with enough work this paint can look as good as any. I should say that MY paint job is not show car quality.
