How does that patching work? Just cut, weld, and sand? Looks wild. You mean the rust patching on the first page? When welding, you have to space the welds out (only weld small tacks). Then come back and weld between the previous tacks. Keep doing it until it is welded solid. If you weld it all at one time the heat will warp it.

I actually got to spend some time on the bug today. Cleaned out the inside to get ready for a headliner install. Got help from a co-worker buddy. Put the engine on the workbench to change gaskets. Still fighting an oil leak. I think it is coming from where the jugs meet the case and/or the generator stand.

Had an idea for some graphics on the bug: Got tickets to see ZZ-Top this Wednesday!

My buddy Norm came over. We got a little work in on the Bug. It's starting to look like a working vehicle.

Sweet, did you ever get a adj beam? No, that may be a winter project.

Well it has been a while but I finally did some work on the bug this weekend. Got a good start on replacing my battery tray. Took me like 7 hours to do that much. Trimming crappy fitting replacement panels is a pain.

Fit and tacked the other half of my battery tray in today. Next, tack it up solid, grind and paint.

Tonight I had a little VW ADD. The engine on my workbench was too heavy to move myself. So, I lightened it up. Only 3 out of 4 top rings were broken. That's not bad right? Amazing thing is, this engine always fired right up as soon as I hit the key. But you could smell the oil burning. I'm upgrading from 1500 to brand new 1600 pistons/cylinders.
