Those are very nice, with the screw on caps. Where did you get those? Now you need to go with a 5" beam, at least a 4". Check out this thread, can help give you a idea of what your rims look like with different setups. www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=247735

^^^I agree, I would go 5''. You don't need shocks, they just stiffen the ride. Rims look good by the way, they'll look really nice against that fresh red paint.

WOW low profile! Whats the tire size? 165R15 It's just the angle of the picture. The rim is sitting on top of the tire (not mounted). I'm not doing anything extreme with the ride. Just low enough to get the fender openings even with the tire.

Hey Ed. I like the rims. Did you do the headliner already? I see you have the windows in. The back windows have to be out for a headliner install....

I'll do the headliner sometime in march. The rear window rubber has already been cut. It's just sitting in place. I have new front and rear window rubber with chrome trim. I do need a new windsheild.

Just one. Do I need a pair to re-issue it?

Problem can arrise when you go to register it. If someone else has the mate and it is registered then you can't use yours. That is why it is most always more expensive to buy the pair.

When I did my plates I was told that if the year the plate was issued required a front and back then you had to have both. Although all they required was a photo copy of the plate to register it so you might get by with only one Steve

Worst case, it will look good on the wall of my garage.

You might be able to call the historical plates division and check if it is useable or not.

How does that patching work? Just cut, weld, and sand? Looks wild.
