Since the '76 Super convertible has been put on an indefinite hold stripped and sold, here's my new project - a 1974 Super Beetle. This one came from the same GoodVolks member my '76 did, but this car is so much better condition to begin with. Other than paint and a bit of work under the dash, the body work is done. The pans, heater channels, and other typical areas are excellent. Too bad the paint started to peel some time ago. It was originally a red car, but the yellow was applied at some point (and since they did everything yellow,) I'll probably keep it yellow. It's kinda growing on me. Other than the paint, it mainly just needs to be put together. Most of the pieces are there, but I may need to "borrow" a few from my '76. I also have a line on a '73 Super that's rusty, but basically a complete car that's cheap. Anyway, here it is and I really hope to get this on the road soon. Todd

The slots are actually going back to a previous owner, George in BC, as well as the transmission. Luckily my 74 vert was willing to donate it's transmission. Finally got it to my house yesterday with the help of John and his dads trailer. No to get to work...

With the help of John and Bren, this week I was able to bring home this red '73 Super Beetle parts car. The body and pan are in really bad shape, but other than a missing motor and a spoken for transmission (going to John Hanson) it's basically a complete autostick car. It will be a nice car to rob parts from before it goes to the scrap pile.

Looks like a nice solid base to start from.
What are your plans?

My goal is to just have a decent driver - not looking for a fully restored car at this point. Todd

...What engine are you thinking about? It will be just a basic 1600 - nothing special going on at least for a while. My goal is just to get this bug back on the road by Spring.

I guess you never know what you're going to find once you dig into a project car. Found this today after taking out my mouse-smelling headliner. The P.O. did a good job of the body work as I had no idea this was here.
