Looks great, Paul. I like the color combination. What are you doing for seats? I agree with Bren on the LED tail lights.

Well, I bled the brakes and the clutch yesterday. Brian, I have an aftermarket set of mounts and sliders for the seats. Smittybilt makes a set of suspension seats for a Jeep that should fit, and have the slots for a 5 point harness. I want to mount lights on the back of the fenders, rather than the top of the fenders. Only problem is the wicked angle of that surface. I want the lenses to face straight back, and not point at the sky. I will have to make mounts for whatever I choose. I was already looking at the Iron Cross lights that Rick suggested, and may go that way.

What did you decide on tail lights? I was thinking you could use stock '67 style tail lights. Might have to modify the base a little to get the angle.

Here are the specs 1968 Empi Sportster, built on a 57 Bug pan King pin front end, using 4 bolt rotors and VW calipers 1915, full flowed, doghouse shroud Weber 40IDF's, by Art Thraen @ ACE Mallory Unilite distributor, with vacuum advance 041 Heads, Scat C35 cam, solid rocker arms, swivel adjusters, chromemoly pushrods ,11/2" exhaust Pro Street transaxle by Rancho ,with rebuilt reduction gear boxes Reduction gear box adapters by Bugzyla Kennedy Stage 1 clutch hydraulic clutch pedal The factory Sportster kits came with a spare tire mount. My "spare tire" is a storage compartment I built using a wide five wheel, and it will unbolt just like a spare tire would. 10"x40" inch gas tank-13 gallons! All I need are gas, oil, and seats! Thanks to my Goodvolks friends for parts, help, advice, and encouragement Paul Attachments:

Looks really good Paul. I am interested in seeing what you did to create the spare tire storage.

Well, the Sportster is Addy approved. Why this grumpy old guy did not take Addy for a ride around the grounds is still a mystery. I put the Terra Tires on the Sporty today, and I am leaving for the UP tomorrow. I promise pictures of the buggy covered in mud,any pictures taken of me stuck in a mudhole may be withheld in the interest of national security. Thanks to all the Goodvolks for help, words of encouragement, parts, and praise for the finished product. Until you undertake a project like this, it is hard to imagine the amount of time spent working on it,or time spent thinking up improvements, etc. Thanks again,Paul Attachments:

Well,2 steps forward,1 step back.... I have been chasing a shake in my Sportster's front end that would come in at about 60 mph, and not go away. I put delrin bushings in the beam, and changed the king pins and link pins. I took it to a friend's repair shop, and had him do an alignment.(Hunter computerized laser alignment set-up,what a trick hunk of equipment). So I take the buggy for a test ride, no more shake. I go back, pay the bill, and go to leave, and the buggy stalls at the edge of Red arrow highway, and will not restart. Trailered it home. Got fuel, got spark, rockers and pushrods ok, fuel pump pumping. Swap an old 009 in for the Uni-lite, d**n thing fires right up. 2 miniscule carbon tracks on the uni-rotor,new one on order.
