Some of the highlights of this summers work included adding quickroof to the insides... I repainted the insides of the headlight buckets grey as they were pretty rusty... Buffed the paint, it was pretty flat.... Worked an oil temp guage under the dash... Got some correct year plates and a nice antenna! Spent alot of time cleaning the wiring contacts up which got most everything electrical working again. I just need to get case savers in the engine case and I can stick her back together. Its running a 40hp with the big bore pistons. I've been toying with going the rally car look... its an idea.

Cool! Where are you located? Why not race? If I can race Ruffuss anything is possible. You don't have to be fast and don't have to beat on it. It's all about being consistant and having FUN!!

I'm in the web of the thumb...2 hours north of the D.
I though about racing but can't say that I know of any vintage rally car races here in MI... It would be fun!

The car looks very nice and very solid. Actually my 66 is getting the rally treatment as well. Check out Ally's thread and you can see where Im at with it. Ill use white roundels and a black herbie type stripe and the # will be 76. I like to cone race Ally when I can and even a little drag racing here and there. generally I just like driving it. As a club we do a lot of long distance stuff and I generally put 5,000 miles on a summer or so. You should come with us to Effingham Ill next June. Its a good time.

The pictures make it look better than it really is but its a good solid foundation. Whoever painted it last did a lousy job! I hope to have it on the road in May... What goes on in Effington???

Effingham, Illinois is the home of Mid-America Motorworks. They are one of the VW aftermarket parts suppliers. They have a very large car show and many related activities every year on the first weekend in June. Several of the GoodVolks members have attended. Personally, I have always wanted to go, but it has never worked out with my schedule. Take a look at this link for the 2011 GoodVolks trip to Effingham in 2011: thegoodvolks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=discuss&action=display&thread=3305&page=1

We're back at it after a 3 month vacation bringing a '61 Ford Falcon back to life... Painted the pushrod tubes today. Also sent the case out to get case savers installed by a dude recomended by Herman Barnum... Fuel pump and dizzy are rebuilt and ready to go!
