When all this '1600 drag racing' talk started the idea was to try to get people into coming racing with us. We wanted to keep it cheap so more people would be willing and able to join us. Most of the racing we will do is bracket racing. Don't have to be fast, just consistent. X2! I counted up the passes that the 68 made last year and it was 82 times down the strip. The only maintenance or repair required was a little silicone on the nose cone gasket when I had to put the hockey stick back in place and an oil change. While I have gotten a little better as a driver after those passes, the only thing established for sure is that I have a long way to go............... ;D ;D ;D Started the season in the high 18's and got down to a 17.22 best. Oh well, I'm going to try for 100 passes at least next year and be in the 16's or even 15's The racing with friends really is a lot of fun. The best thing that could make it better is more friends out there.

1-14-2012 is the day. Body goes back on the pan and it all comes home. Hoping to have four 'volks' to help Jason and I with the process. Thinking we start around 11am. I will bring lunch. Shoot me a PM if this fits your schedule and you want to come play. I will pm you the address. I don't anticipate having to reschedule but you never know. If something comes up I will let you know.
Thanks!

Nice job on the paint, Bren! How was that urethane to work with?

I'll bet that was a great feeling to get the pan and body together!

Thanks guys. It is exciting to be at this stage. Got it home last night. The urethane did not act like car paint according to Jason. Did not smell like it either. We had some trouble with it but in the end it turned out real nice.

I have these tires:
Tire A: Firestone 195/65 R 15 (24.98 x 7.68 x 15) Approx. 20lbs
Tire B: Kuhmo 165/80 R 15 (25.39 x 6.50 x 15) Approx. 15lbs
Which should I run?
I like the width of A for traction but not the weight (rotating mass). I like the weight of B but wonder if it will have enough traction with the narrower width.

The smaller diameter will get you off the line a little quicker.
