I don't know about the heat thing. I would be surprised if Greg would do it if it was a big issue. I'm sure the paint won't be on there long, never seems to hold up well.

Ya I trust Greg's work just makes you wonder about all those things people say are bad or good.

I agree. Lot's of untested theory's out there that people claim are fact. That is why I am now relying on Greg. He has been at it a long time, lots of trans and motors built.

I have painted everyone of the engines that I have built except for the ones that were built with new cases. My own personal engine was running over 200 hp with now problems with overheating and it had two layers of black paint. If you use the right kind of paint it will also hold up. I always use the high temp header paint. This paint has a ceramic base to it which is said to help dissipate heat. This paint now comes in several colors I now like to use either aluminum or cast iron colored.

Well the motor is in as of last Thursday night thanks to the help of Steven, AJ, Kenn and John H. Today Dustin, John H, and I finished it up. The battery was low but it did fire. We ran it at 2000rpm for 15-20 minutes as Greg suggested to break in the cam. It sounded good! I am looking forward to getting it out and driving it a little before I must put it away for the winter. Tomorrow I will synch the carbs and check timing etc.

Just a quick question your drive gear was not in the correct spot and I tried to find top dead center on number 1 piston. Was I correct or was I way off like 180 degrees.

You set it correctly. Initial timing was pretty good too as it ran without any adjustments. Tonight I hope to dial in all the tune up stuff.
