My advice would be to media blast it, or sandblast it very carefully so you don't warp the steel, especially in thin areas. The rust looks pretty advanced there, and it's really important to get all of the rust off of it, which very well may expose more holes. Sucks to do a repair only to have it bubble a year of two later. My solution was to buy a plastic car... Can't get a cool bus that way, though. Dave

AJ and I bought a parts bus to share. Brought it home tonight. Rusty and beat up but it is all there. (Door was not attached. It rode home in the truck bed.)

Good Job Bren .
I don't know if you will be able to make 75 & 80 mph runs down the road like in your 67 Bug . And when you do hit the road look out for side winds . ;D

Maybe once the 2110 gets in the engine compartment I will make those 75mph runs! Not what I am building it for but it sure would be fun to surprise some people at a test and tune once or twice.

Spent the day working on the bus and parts bus with the help of Steven and AJ. They did the majority of the work. I mainly played gopher. Made good progress on both the parts bus and my bus. Photos to follow later.

Update: We went from this: To this: Welder (vdub63 aka Steven) in action: Found this while removing the dog leg: Nice plywood and bondo repair. Must be a previous owner was a woodworker and had stock in Bondo!

Maybe the same guy who had done repairs on Ruffuss before I got him back except he used black garbage bags and Bonda(lots of Bondo). Looks like your making good progress.

I found the old drapes for the bus. You will need them to make new ones. Call or e=mail me and we will see how to get them to you.
