Its a pipe thread and I used a white paste teflon stuff. I was very surprised this was not sealed with the two small ones that were sealed and were not leaking. Ill bet this was making one Hellova spray of oil that was directed right at the flywheel. Im still replacing the rear main and I want to see if I can borrow a fancy seal installer from work. Trans goes in tommorow on the way to the GTG.

oh also as you can see the washer used at the base of my caes repair finally broke off after being installed and reinstalled. So I gotta redo that. No biggie.

I like to use lock tight on all my threads, head studs on the case side not head side, pipe fittings and the Gland nut. I like the orange rear main seal made by Orlings (spelling?). Good catch Dan, I remember a while back my buddy's rear plug had a little leak. We caught it on my engine stand. I would still stay away from the four puck believe me I have been there and done that.

Yea I got an Orlings orange rear main (installed with a nice GM tool ) and Yes I installed the 4 puck disc. Look.. I allready own it, I need a new clutch anyway, Im not afraid to pull the motor again if its undrivable. And hey maybe Ill like it. Im sure it at least wont slip anymore Im ok with being wrong. Im wrong all the time

Got the trans back so the 2nd gear syncro is repaired and all is ready to put back together. AND I had every intention of starting it today.... then my wife took me for a LONG power walk and now Im exhausted.. I feel so old... Gotta get Ally back together soon.

Was the syncro ring cracked? Or??? Be thankful you "can" walk after 3 knee surgerys my walking days are gone

I got the trans in today. Still have lots to do but like they say the walk of 1000 miles starts with the first step. Once I get the ball rollin it gets moving along pretty well. Except Im gunna be in detroit for the rest of the weekend Oh well next week. At least the trans is in.

Hooked up the rear axles and brakes, also installed the clutch cable. still need reconnect the shifter and add gear oil. Then I think Ill move on to throwing the motor back in. We will see what I get done tonight.

I would put back the stock type disc ther way easier on the syncros,Madmike

Engine is IN.... Well its in. in. but still has a long way to go before running. I figure 5 solid nights of work left before running.
