Still @ the shop , Well the good news is I got tags yesterday 15 min. @ the DMV and I'm good to go . Now the BAD news I drove to the other end of the parking lot and fill up my gas tank , started down the road for my first road test got about 2 blocks and something happened in the back with what I think in 1 of the CV joints . I took out 8 bolts and I put back 8 bolts had no issues before not sure whats up , Limped back to the shop parked it and walked away pissed . Oh ya my speedo is not working ether . Crawl under it tonight and try again .

Hi Glen,
Sorry to hear about the CV thing. It seems like no project can draw to a close when it is supposed to. The speedo thing might just fix itself. I've had this a couple of times with Mk II watercooleds that have been sitting a while. Just tapping on the speedo when going would bring it to life. After a few "applications" it was fixed. Hope that might work for you.

Between the speedo cable is a black plastic box that the cables screw into and an electric multi plug , that was replaced due to mine got damaged when I got hit , it looks used and I don't know if it good or bad or what it does , I have to sit down with the book and do some home work . As far as the CV I'll spot check if I didn't get seated right .

The black box turns on your Ox sensor light. If an earlier version has a cable long enough to eliminate it, that would for sure eliminate it as a problem. I've got one from a Mk II Jetta, part number 171 957 901F, that you could borrow if its the same. I'm in Zeeland, so not too far hopefully.

I still have the old one and I should be able to pull some numbers off of it . But I don't know of a ox sensor in my system after all this a 1976 bus . Also I live in South Haven so we are not that far apart and My mom & sister live in Holland I could make a run and see everyone like killing two birds in one trip .

Well, maybe it is something different, I'm not very Bus-knowlegable, but that's what it sounded like. Sent you a PM if you want to borrow mine.

I took out the carpet this week and put in simulated hard wood floor in the rear and between the front seats . Its a lighter color and has a nice contrast to the cabinets . Easier to keep clean and I was unable to find OEM type and color of carpet , an due to fact I had some extra flooring laying arround .
