Well we will see what I can do I just did a tune up, oil change and timing check. The Ghia is running much better now. See I have a lowered Ghia that adds to faster times right. I am just worried about braking my 40 year old transmission that I believe has never been out of the car. I am not sure about the Funny Car Nationals I need to check. I would try and avoid the water box if possible...they usually spray the entire width of the box area, though. Sometimes the left lane you can drive around it...really no need for a burn out. Most people just do it for show IMHO. I usually just basically wipe off the tires and still have too much traction. One thing that is really a killer to VW transaxles is wheel hop...if you ever do get the tires spinning and you feel them hopping...stop the spinning pronto. That slamming transfers right to the diff/ & ring and pinion..not good.

We will be having a driver's meeting at 11:30 at the track. I sent all the participants a more detailed PM.

It would take more than water to get my car to do a burn out, but thanks for the advice.

Something came up in the Pumpkinfest thread. If you don't want to run your car, you can still support the track and come watch and do some hanging out with us. The more the merrier!

I may be the best candidate for this "pushed". Last sunday I changed oil, distributer cap, roter, spark plugs and check the point gaps. I increased the idle speed (1/2 turn).

Great day and a great event! Thanks to Rudy for organizing this event that went very well. I am really glad we did this and had a great turnout for the first time. I was a little disappointed to not see Ron or Clinton show up. I was looking forward to seeing a couple more fast cars out there and ask some questions about the sport.

I agree with Dustin today was alot of fun, it was nice seeing the vw's going down the track. Rudy mentioned an autocross race at Martin on Nov. 8th, I'm considering trying it out aswell. Anyone else interested? I'm going to need to find a rear set of tires first though.

I am interested but I think I will raise the front a bit for more travel and add shocks. Too bad I can't run a sway bar up front with a narrowed front beam.
Maybe we should start a new thread.

Thanks for putting this on Rudy. It was a great day. The dash plaques and trophy were a nice touch. Very well done! Weather was great. Fun to see the other vehicles on the track too. Nice that it was not a busy test and tune day. Good to get together with everyone. Thanks also to AJ, Kenn, Steven and George for helping me get home. New belt got me to AJ's. Stock pulley from AJ got me to George's. Tow strap from Steven got the car into George's garage. Kenn and Steven got me home from there. Car ran fine from Kzoo to Battle Creek. Died between George's and home. Seems to be major, not sure what it is though. Oh, well at least it is the end of the season. Guess I will be doing a engine rebuild this winter. Maybe I should stay off the track next year
