Bren, What do you figure is fast? I'm thinking I will turn a say 18/20 sec. quarter with a speed of say 65/68 mph. Last time I ran Ruffuss in a fun run his time was 23.46 at 62 mph(with the old engine) I hope to improve on that a little with out beating on him to bad, I don't want to have tow him all over if you know what I mean. That was a big pain in the butt

I really have no idea what is fast. I did not think about it being 1/4 mile. I definately don't want to break anything either. With the track being sticky it will be much different than on the streets.

Last time I ran was at Milan and it hooked pretty well. No tire burning with the old engine. I really have no problem roasting the hides with the 1776 on the street? not sure what to expect other than a good time. And thats all I want. I know it's not nearly as fast as my Baja was and that was a 12 sec. car constantly Later Kenn

I have never been on a track. So I have no idea what to expect. I really don't want to break anything either so I will be very cautious. I think it will be a great time. Definately looking forward to hanging out together and having fun!
Anyone that does not want to take their car down the track should still come out! Let's hang out together at the track. Like Rudy said, part of this is showing support for the track.

I have also never been down the 1/4 so this is a new experience for me. I expect to run what Kenn previously ran. 23-25 seconds.

hey guys...one of the DdKers here..thanks for the events. Glad to see another group is diving into VW happenings. Just thought I'd chime in on the T&T thing. T&T is my favorite way to race, no pressure, make as many passes as you want, don't really care about the stupid tree and launches, just have fun. It's heads up racing...meaning-whatever you line up against, you race...no staggered starts. Now the Gamblers race(I think) you choose a dial-in-time and try to run that time. Just some pointers, you will need to go down to the time slip booth and get tech inspection...not sure how they'll feel about stockers but generally they want to see two return springs on the carb and a battery tie down...seat belts. If you've got some power in your bug...13.99 and quicker will need an approved DOT helmet. You need a pretty good setup to run a 13 with a bug...160+ HP. My suggestion just go and have fun...don't rev the heck out of it and dump the clutch though...those tracks are real sticky...VW trannies are weak, even with a stocker...they can break..trust me on this one. You're best bet is to pre-load just ride the clutch a little...anyway, I plan on being there and am trying to rally quite a few other bugs so we can have a good showing. I'm not an expert like some in my club but I can give some pointers. thanks guys and gals.

Thanks for chiming in, I really hope we get a good turnout for this event as well as some DDK support at other events we put on. We welcome all VW's to come to any of our events GTG's included. In the fun runs yesterday I had a blistering time of 23.6 @ 58mph in the Autostick

Thanks for the hints I wish I read it before I ran. Ruffuss, ran a 20.0391@60.79 mph 1/4 and a 12.9779@51.20 mph 1/8. Bren beat me with a 11.6642 @60.mph 1/8 mile pass he let off after the 1/8 mile. Even with the yellow time slip it was a hoot and 3/4. I'll be doing this again and you can bet on that. Later Kenn

just another little note...warning-drag racing is very contagious..don't be surprised if you want to hop up your motor after this and do it again.

It is contagious, I was wanting to build up a car just walking through the pits yesterday morning. I think my 67 will be a street/strip car.

here's a little hint to cut a good light and get the jump on your opponent....if you have street tires...stare at the third amber light...the one before the green. When that thing lights--GO...no way you're going to red light with street tires.

Thanks for signing up gobuggo and akitsuji! This is begining to sound like we are going to have a ton of fun. Thanks for the tips gobuggo. We, well at least I, need all the help we can get. It would be great to get more of your group to come out. Our clubs make a perfect mesh and we all benefit from more interaction.

gobuggo: Welcome to the forum! Glad to see you made it on here. Definately looking forward to this. It will be great to run the track with the DDK! What a great opportunity for us to learn more about dragracing! I know what you mean about being addictive. One run down the track with Kenn and I think I am hooked. Now, please stop giving Kenn pointers! Now that he knows how to read the tree my one win winning streak is done for! ;D
