Look'n great! Can't wait to see the paint on it. You and me both! Been a long time coming. Tore the engine down to the Longblock last night. d**n those cooling tin screws are fun to get loose. Lots of heat, lots of cursing.

Got the Wheels mounted and on the pan. MMMmmmm Brought the longblock to Clinton and he ran a Compression check and was pretty amazed that it was spot on. Endplay was questionable but I am going to run it as is and see how it goes. Might build a motor this winter. Have ordered or picked up around $1000 in parts over the last week. UGH what a headache. Everytime I think I got most if it picked out I find a small piece I missed. Checked out the car last night and it is getting sooo close. Might be able to paint at the end of next week or early the week after that. ;D

Progress gets slow at the end of a project, details are the biggest PITA, but the biggest payoff.

Well it looks like we are ready for Paint. I got these from my body guy around 1am this morning... I'm still not super crazy about the hood gap on the passenger side but I don't think we really have a choice. It seems a lot of people have this issue and you either get a new hood or cut/hack/massage that hood until it fits. And that gap is after 2 solid days of pushing/pulling/adjusting/hammering to get it to sit right and it looks better than it did before. I might just have to get my hands on another 60's hood and have him paint it down the road if it fits better. As far as the motor is concerned, come to find out it is a 1776! Exactly what I wanted but now I have more problems. For starters this motor ran for me for about 3 months. It had the old school internal oil cooler and shroud. Not the most efficient so now I need to get all new doghouse setup. Also I bought the baby Dells for what I thought was a 1600. Now that i know it is a 1776 they are going to have to be completely gone through and rejetted. Luckily CB Performance stocks almost everything for these but 1776 I guess is really pushing the limits of these carbs. We will see. The other thing is I was really hoping to not split the case but I am not sure what to do at this point. here is a shot my unknown cam... The guys on the samba can't figure it out and neither can I. Someone thought maybe a bugpack 4062 or 4063 but that stamping is not like other bugpack ones. I guess I would have to "degree it" and see what kind of lift I am getting and go from there but I don't know how and don't have the tools. Without that info I can't really setup the carbs and the everything else. I will post more pics today as we may be throwing paint!

One of the most nerve wracking time of my life. The front 4" narrowed beam required gentle use of a prybar to let the body drop in. Ugh. Then dropping the rear onto the mounts went some like "Anyone see what it is hung up........BOOM!" I freaked but everything seems ok. The paint isn't perfect and IMO looks better in the pics but I wasn't paying for a $15K paint job. Whatever I will drive the hell out of it and enjoy it.

dumped... My body guy keeps sending me these type of pics. I hate my car being 99.5% done with body/paint and not in my garage yet!
