I went out and worked on the fenders a little today. Man are they beat up. It looks like whoever took them off the car they came off really did not care if they were damaged or not.

Yah the guy that sold them to me was an asshat and I was taken a bit on the price. Thanks for reminding me. . Funny I was just going to send you a PM to see if you had starting playing with them yet. Post some pics for the peeps out here to see your work. This weekend I was promised some serious time in the garage by my boss(wife). She took the boy and Grandma to some Disney think at the Palace and my father in law and I got crackin. I got my spindles built. Piece of cake after you do it once. Got the torsion arms all greased up and put in. No more need for needle bearings yippee. Got the static beams put in to replace the torsions. Finished cleaning up the transmission after hours and hours of scraping and installed it with all new mounts. Man Oh Man all new everything sure is nice! Also spent some time notching the spring plates and will apply Masterseries silver/black tomorrow. Will Post pics tonight.

Great to hear, I'll get those fenders done as fast as I can so you can get this baby done! Really no need to rush but when you get done with the fenders and if they are to my liking then I will have some more body work for you if you wish to get paid for your work. I found that my decklid has two little stress cracks and some previous bondo work. I would like to get that taken care of and also my doors and hood need some work. Up to you. Here are some pics from this weekends work. Nothing crazy but this thread needs some sort of an update... Front arms and through rods are in place just need to be secured but waiting for seal retainers for the link pin carriers. Drop Spindles built and ready to go! Notched the spring plates and applied masterseries. These will be sanded tomorrow and chassis black applied. Transmission all cleaned up. We installed this just to be able to install the rear bag system and make sure everything lines up. Then everything will come back out and be reinstalled with all the proper loc-tite and what not.

Sounds good, I want to get my barn set up for paint so I don't have to have my friend get his dad to let us use the Bus garage in town anymore.

Been too long since I updated. Been extremely cold here so I installed a 30,000BTU blue flame heater to keep things tolerable. The rear bag setup is 99% done just have not permanently mounted the lower cradle. Everything will be removed once again and loctite applied where required. Just wanted to get every mounted and test the system out first. Front setup is done just need to move on to the brakes now

Looks good, when will you drop the body on? Also what air maintenance controller are you running? Did you get it from air kewld too, is it two valve or four? Keep up the good work, spring is coming.

Keep up the good work, spring is coming. jerry I went with the 4 valve manual kit Can't continue working on it until Monday but I am hoping to get the compressor and tank out there and start getting things wired up. Nothing permanent just want to pressure test it and make sure everything works. What sucks is I need to purchase about $400 in parts to get the pan on the ground...Full brake kit all around, brake lines, Wheel bearings, seals here and there. UGH

Everything looks great, I would love to check out that setup. I have always been very curious of the details on the through rods, and bearings setup in the front. Also, do you just bottom out your torsion bars in the back? Or are they gone all together?

Also, do you just bottom out your torsion bars in the back? Or are they gone all together? When you say bearings are you talking about the stock Needle bearings? If so this kit uses Delron bushings. Pete's Dad who builds high end sand rails uses them. If they can use that nuts in the sand then they are definitely good enough for my car. The torsion bars are removed for the rear and the bag setup just uses the spring plate as a mount for the bag. After notching the plate you can go from the jacked up 4x4 look to completely slammed...Daddy Likes! The plates go up and down freely with absolutely no tension. The cradle hugs the trans horns.

So what do you use for locating the spring plates? The bushings in the back just hold em in? I am looking into a coilover conversion using the same principles. But I was considering a Heim joint type of conversion for the spring plates. Let me know, some pics of the mounting of the spring plates would be great!!!

so the poly bushings do a good enough job without the torsions?

Yah The black ones work the best for stock torsion covers...the red ones are best used if you have the aftermarket chrome covers. They are basically only in there to keep the spring plate where it should be and allow it to go up and down without going side to side. With a little Poly lube they slid right in and I was able to put the covers on by myself with the stock sized bolts. I don't know why everyone always says they need super long bolts to get them on when you replace the bushings. Mine were cake.
