I agree with your wife. I would really like to see this car at a show this summer too. It has been a long road but from the times I have seen it I know it is going to be beautiful.

Can't wait either. New paint does something to the mind that spurs the body to do more...

I've noticed even just the thought of new paint can do that

Will do. Last week he spilled coffee on his Digital Camera so updates were out of the question. I said screw it and dug out a digital camera and shipped it to him. I don't want to miss a single thing. Just found a 63 front clip on the samba I need to buy. Working out the details now to get it on greyhound. My garage is so empty now. Time to finish the pan off and start the engine teardown soon. Oh I forgot to mention on my way to the body shop to drop her off, I passed a guy towing a really nice blue Bus with faded paint towards Flint. We exchanged thumbs up and went our separate ways. No idea who he was.

Hooked all the air ride bits and pieces up and rolled her outside. Hard to tell how each corner reacts when letting air in and out due to not having any weight on the pan but everything works. Had so much fun with it I killed my battery.

Looks great.
Williamston... I think its a little southeast of Lansing. Let me know if you need a hand when it comes time to put the body back on.

I'm in Perry, and a stone's throw away from Williamston. I'll help too if you need it.

That is too cool. I'm getting ready to do mine soon. So far I have everything except the air tank

Hey thanks guys. I will remember you when it is time to put the body on. Went and saw the progress on the body. Here are some shots from a week or so ago. Replacing the running board fastener panel. Body guy was not happy about the time it took to do these. LOL oops. If everything turns out ok with the job I think a steak dinner and some stupid amounts of booze are in order for him. Rear half of the interior is all coated in Masterseries. Heater ducts were removed and will be sealed off. No heat for this ride. Welding up the rear quarter that had all the holes in it. He worked the hell out of this panel. Was oil canning really bad. Another piece that took him waaay longer than he thought it would. I dropped off the front clip to him. That is going to be interesting to say the least.

Went and saw the car today. Paint has been ordered. I am going in on Monday to spend the day working on the car with my body guy. I offered since he is new to VW's and we don't want to miss anything. When I got back home these babies were on my porch! Oh I also picked these up from a guy in Milan last weekend! Dellorto FRD 34B's. He pulled them off a running stock 1600 and said they ran great. I need to clean them up a bit still. I have been emailing Clinton and he has offered to assist me in running through my motor. Not sure when I can get it to his place with the longblock but hopefully soon. This is why I love VW's so much...the people are always willing to assist others in need. Clinton, whatever beer or liquor you crave just name it and a case or 1/5th is yours! Goal is to have this car complete by Aug 13th for the Back to Bricks show in Flint. We will see.
