That CB bracket looks like a way better design than the stamped steel one the CNC comes with.

That's what you people get for Drag Racine poor little VW's ;D New clutch=12.9 Well, not 12.9 yet. 14.3 today. Too much tire pressure. Got rained out before I could try the lower tire pressure. Something to look forward to next week!

14.3 = a rusty driver
Some more track time will bring the times down.

Went to the track Friday night hoping to get in some good passes. Still shooting for that elusive 13.9. Got in two good passes. Beat a camaro the second pass! ;D Was spinning the tires hard off the line. Kept lowering the pressure. Had it down to 10 the last pass. Went around the waterbox as usual. Spun the tires before going up to the line for the first time. (was a little intimidated to try that before) Trying to get the dirt off etc. Launched nicely then could not find 2nd. Rudy looked it all over with me and we determined the clutch disc had probably failed. So, this morning I pulled the motor: And found this: Fortunately it appears to be only the disc! Talked to George and he picked up a Daiken (sp?) disc for me. Hopefully this ends the clutch disc issue! That will all be going back in later, after the indy 500!

Fortunately the new disc was not expensive. Fortunately it is easy to pull and reinstall the motor in a rail. So, had it all back together Sunday. Drove down to George's. Ran great. Need to adjust the slave cylinder a little. Still spins the tires hard launching in 1st. Still spins them in 2nd and 3rd. Probably going to have to get stickier tires to eliminate that. Delicate balance between grip and breakage.
Marie said the car was faster last year because the tires did not spin. It just grabbed and went.

Took the rail to the track last Saturday for the first Goodvolks drag series. Photographer was there and got this shot. Cool thing was this photographer was there the very first time I went to the track. Then they were there when I won the Spring/Summer 2011 Bug Run race. And, they were there the last time it is being raced. They told me this was the best shot they got. They said they just missed the next pass when I had the wheels way in the air....

So, this past spring I had tubes put in the front tires as they had slow leaks but good tread. Then I had the calipers rebuilt as they were leaking. I was excited to get the rail back on the road. Took it out for a ride around the block. I only got half way and it quit moving. Engine ran but would not move forward or reverse. So, Marie came and got me and we towed it home on the trailer. Talked to Greg and we felt it was the transmission. Had a busy summer and did not get to it until last weekend. Pulled the motor, put it on jack stands and removed the tires. Left side was loose. Thought maybe I had a broken axle or something. Turns out the splines were completely stripped out of the rotor. Fortunately, the trans does not need to come out. So, I ordered a new rotor today.... Hopefully this is all I need and I can try again next spring.
