I had my beige '67 up for sale and was planning to replace it with a sand rail. I found this one and bought it:
It is a Appletree 4 seater with a 1800 in it and dual weber 40's.
Got a pretty good deal as the motor was not running real well. Seller threw in brand new paddle tires!
One week later a couple came out to look at my '67 and said they had a sand rail for trade. It had been sitting for a few years but it was nice in it's day. We tentatively worked out a price on my car and the rail but all agreed to think about it. As they were driving home I called them (after consulting with a few people) and said let's do it. I offered to deliver the car and pick up the rail on my trailer. They agreed, later that week my son and I drove to Redford, MI to trade cars and cash.
The day before the deal was worked out we all went to the Fort Wayne show. I found a great deal on a trailer there but had no way to get it home. Kenn offered, with some persuasion from Steven, to pull it home for me behind Ruffuss. Thanks Kenn!
This is the rail I took in on trade. It is a Whitehill 4 seater with a 1835 and Dellorto 45, Neal pedals, turning brake, parking brake, disc brakes, street legal etc.
I decided to keep the yellow rail as it fit me better. It has more headroom to it. I sold the orange rail minus the motor and carbs, rear tires, and paddle tires. Now I am working on getting this car up and running. Motor was frozen when I brought it home. Got that fixed and installed new rings. Now I am putting it together using some parts from the other motor.
More photos and update will follow.
