My SAAB Sonetts all had manual pop-up headlights. The yellow SCCA racecar had the headlights locked down, and for the most part, I used driving lights mounted in the grill at night. The orange one had full pop up headlights...you couldn't mount lights in the grill because there was special cold-air ducting to the carb, and ducting for the gearbox cooler. I was always told to lock the headlights down at high speed.
Of course, I did not listen, and imagine my surprise whey they popped up all by themselves at a little over 95 miles per hour. It was like hitting a wall, and you could not get them to go down until you had dropped below 65 or so because of aerodynamic drag.
I thought those were "go-slows". I can't imagine how much drag would be added to Westy if it were opened up...
That's a real "go-slow". Might not get one to hit 120mph if you dropped one from a plane! :-)
