Hi Everyone, This is my wife idea. She is always amazed on how I can take one of these old rusty dirty engines and make them look new and breath new life out of them so I am going to be posted pictures on Pauls 1956cc engine build up. Paul has a 1969 Ghia ans ask me to build up an engine that will put out close to 110 hp. So we came up with this 1956cc engine witch is just a 1776cc engine with a 76 mm crank in it. Here is the donor engine Can you see the poison ivy hanging off the bottom? The heads that I will be porting

Hmmmmm 1776 with a 76 mm crank. Sounds like a nice motor. I was going to build a 1776 myself this winter. Ill follow along as well. Whatcha gunna use for the cam? What brand crank you using and what mods need to be made to the block? Also why port those old nasty heads when you can get a nice new and improved version for 300.00 ?

Don't get in a hurry Dansam LOL. The reason is with the new heads you still have stock ports and valves. These heads will have 40mm intakes and 35.5 exhaust valves with my intermediate port work along with unshrouded valves 3 angle valve job along with dual springs.

Finally, I have got some place on these heads. Little by little I am all most done. Here is a look at the intake ports. Take a look at the shorten and tapered valve guides. Exhaust Port Now here is the combustion chamber where I unshrouded the valves. As careful as I was I still managed to hit the seats so it is a good thing that I did this before the seats were ground. These will still need to be flycut some I am hoping to get rid of the lip on the outer part of the chamber. First we have to grind the seats and then install the valves so we can get a good cc reading then we will cut them to what we need.

I scored the rods off of ebay and the crank was new from Boss Enterprises. If you chat with Barnum he is good friends with Paul Boss.

Yes, starting to make it over the hump. Things are coming together. Here is the crank assembly. I have now got the case cleared for the crank. These little strokers are nice. take a look. I tried something new this time. It is what they call case porting. This is suppose to help move the air around the inside of the case easier on the down stroke of the piston. I reshaped some of the flat spots on the case so the air would flow around this area better. Take a look. The bump stick. This is freshly ground straight from SLR Racing Cams. Steve is a great guy and is very knowledgeable when it comes to cams. If you are looking for one give him a call and tell him what you are building and he will recommend one for ya plus he will send you some of his secret lube great stuff. SLR at 951-273-0816
