the name is George. Have 2 kids and a wife. I own a 72 super. New paint, smooth dash early bompers, rubber, int, chrome, 1835, and all the goodies. Trying to get it out to the show this weekend. I am on alot of other forums but they are mainly out west. I am pretty stoket to find some local vw enthus. Look forward to meeting some of you on sunday.  |

yes it was for about 2 weeks. It was all primer, and dingy. Trust me it is a Mona Lisa. It takes better pics than it looks in person. We painted it and just before the paint went to hard we sanded it with 1500 grit compound and a wheel, then we sprayed it again but made the gun spray dry (gave it some tiger stripes), Then to finish it off we went through and bleached it with some acid and then wheeled it out with 3000 grit and water and a wheel. It took all the shine out of the paint and gave it some patina. I wipe it down with baby oil to make it look all the same consistency but you can still see the strips in some spots. I know that it sounds like alot of work for a crappy paint job but I love it. I had a 58 rag that we spent 2 years restoring and I hated driving it. It was fun to look at and show but I was so anal driving it that I ended up selling it.

Hey George! Great to see you here. My bug is up at City Auto currently, so I'll see you Sunday at the show, but I won't have my bug with me. You should head over to the motorsports section of the forum also and check out our Autocross thread. With the suspension mods and that nice big engine, it would be a lot of fun to see you out at an autocross. Plus, I do think you will really enjoy it. The group we race with is very low-key. Nobody will expect you to be a good racer at first. It is also inexpensive, costing only around $20 a day, or a little less if you run vintage class like I do. You'll usually race 4 times. Check out www.furrin.org/ and you'll find a schedule there. |

made it home with lots of stopping and smoke. Changing all the gaskets and the pully. I also ordered a breather bax from cip that hooks up to the oil neck and back down to the valves. I am going to try to have it worked out before the show at Martin. Show was excellent and I had a blast. Thanks to everyone who was super cool with me and the car. Really thankful you guys were there, I would have no idea where to even look.
