Put in the fuel pump , it didn't start at first . After a couple tries she started run a little then die , over an over an over then she keep running so I just let it run for 15 min or so . The lifters got quieter and for old gas and I have not done the tune up yet it sounds not to bad . So I hopped in to back her down the driveway then back up but she died and back to the run a little an die . Going to town for more fresh gas and do a tune up .

Update , Did a tune up last night . Still do not have my fuel supply issue worked out but I pulled the fuel pump / fuel injector relay and found corrosion on the bottom . So I'm going to replace it .

Update , After more tests I found that the relay is good . Then tested the temperature sensor 2 , its bad . So I don't have to replace a $100-$200 relay and the sensor is only $30 .

Its Official I got the title for my bus , a 1979 VW STA-WAGON (Transporter) Weight 2831 , My 68 Jeep CJ5 was 2810 , I'll have to check the Westfalia . And Steve D. Hell yes I went up & down the driveway . There was some brake sounds ( sand & rust ) but they work . The clutch needs adjusting after I re-weld the front clutch cable flex tube mount . I may her TAGED by the weekend . After installing the sensor she started right up @ a high cold start idle just like is supposed to , But (don't you just love that but) then died , restarted few more times and it sounded like a lack of gas . So I pulled supply to pump - no flow , I pulled supply to filter - no flow , I pulled outlet from bottom of tank - no flow , I ramrodded tube outlet from tank ------ AAAAHHHHHHH I have flow !!!!! After getting a sleeve full of gas all is back together .

Trying to get more run time and burn out some bad gas I took a drive down the dirt road . Went down about a mile turned around an started back when I started to see smoke out the back & she was running a little ruff-er then stalled . I popped the engine lid , I have oil leaking around rocker cover area . My old level is high by about a half quart . I was able to get back to the barn to check why thing started to run bad . With the engine lid up and revving the motor by hand I was able to BLOW OUT a pile of nut shells and a nest out my tail pipe . I may have to remove the muffler and check for blockage .
