I have started her but only by poring gas down the S-pipe . There is a fuel supply issue . When we started her there was no smoke after sitting so long . Now that I can see the motor in back is a label saying that this is a Factory rebuilt motor . You can see in the back corner that I started to put a little shine back in her . Like a before and after thing .

Update , After taking the title to the DMV I received a card back saying I need to stop back there is an Issue with the title . Last Friday I did , They told me that the Bus needed to be checked by the Police . Friday night I stop at the corner store and there just happened to be a MSP car giving some other dude a ticket . So I grabbed the paper work an asked if they could help ? They followed me home and all numbers match . Now My M-Code says the bus was built Nov,4 1977 , The 1992 title from the State of Washington says that my bus is a 1978 ,all numbers match . DMV says my Vin. numbers say that my bus is a 1979 . Michigan's DMV trumps all, I now am a new owner of a 1979 VW Transporter .

O-ya as I was working on my fuel supply or lack there of . First I pulled the filter , no gas flow . On this bus the gas goes from Right to Left by a steel line and 3in rubber sections as joints . I pulled the steel line out found it to plugged 30% or so , after using a braided type wire as a ram rod and carb cleaner I now have gas from the tank to the pump . Next I pulled the pump I think its trash , more tests to confirm .

Remember August was the change over for the next model year. So a November 1977 Bus would be a 1978 Model year. I have no idea why the DMV calls it a 1979.
Did you find anything interesting when you checked the M-Code?

I was questioning that also the first time I ran the Vin.No. 229205XXXX That may explain why there is a color (paint code) not offered till 1979 .

Update , I ran the m-code as a 1979 and things came out a little different . Production Date Nov.10,1978 . With 1 extra code 147 that I have unable to find . And 7149 on the bottom line that the decoding system had no place for . I also picked up a used fuel pump yesterday but its cold out there today .
