It will do for now. I had intended on putting the Judson on a 40 horse, but that has been sold to fund the build so it leaves me sort of bland. As long as it runs drives and stops thats all I care for now.

Actually Single Ports are not that bad. Especially if its a 1600 sp. Its not a ton of power difference between the 2. And there is still alot you can do to squeeze out some power for the sp. Last October at our Drag Day My Dad was running the same times as a Bug with a 1600sp both were even the same year I believe and both motors are healthy.

Kevin: Where did you get these drop plates? I assume the idea is to leave the suspension set at stock settings and use this to get your lowering? My car is quite bouncy in the back with it lowered. Seems this would help with that problem. I got my drop plates in tonight.

Did you have to cut the stock shock mounts?

Bren check this thread out. Instead of the drop plates, they've made drop spring plates. That means no cutting, the shock mount stays. It looks like you would have to get ahold of Mr. Warehouse to get some, he's posted in the thread. They look pretty nice, and are a complete bolt on application. www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=294170&start=360jerry

Not a big deal.
But yes I cut them off, the car is worse than Joan Rivers, so I dont mind. Besides you can always replace the axles.
But yeah the new spring plates are the way to go.

Spent some time last night notching my springs on the narrowed beam, got that done after buying $33 in new drill bits and throughly smoking them within a hour. That stuffs tuff. But thats done at least. Also got the arms back on the beam. So just need to cut the ends off of the springs, weld the stabalizer mount back on and mount it up. Gonna be back out there tommorow night to see what I can get done. Hopeing to have the pan rolling this weekend and get on the tins again and then work at getting the engine back together.

Thanks
Swapped out the 165/45/15s for 195/65/15s yesterday, and kept the 195/50/15s for the front for now. Also picked up a '59 and earlier column and wheel out of a somewhat local yard yesterday for a steal, such a sweet deal, non horn button, and the wheel's somewhat rough, but try finding one.
Got the chassis rolling on the Raders today. Got lots to do to it still, bleed brakes, weld the mount back on for the steering stabilizer, hook up the line for the hydraulic clutch conversion, and mount the pedal assem, go through and torque all nuts and bolts. But its rolling again!
Pics to follow, my puter isnt hooking up to the net so nothing as of now.

Man, that car is going to have a great stance! I really like those wheels. What is your target for having this on the road?
