I was just saying the Buses are really slow even slower than your Ghia and even slower than my Autostick! The small gains in power from those upgrades will be nice especially in traffic but I can understand not wanting to upgrade it much.

Cool Site Jerry I will need to check it out more. Ok super slow it is Dustin this summer we need to drag race my 1600cc dual port Bus vs your Autostick Super. I just don't feel the need to dump tons of money in it now I may not like driving a Bus.
Ok today I fixed my truck and gave it a tune up. Also I was a brave soul a pulled one of the heads off the 1600cc dual port....
No ridge just a build up of carbon so I plan on not splitting the case. Just honing out the cylinders, checking the rings, and indexing the drive gear (pet peeve). I will also rebuild the carb, fuel, pump, dizzy, and generator. The bad part is that it will have to wait till spring because I have bad luck with gasket sealer under 32 degrees.
On to the Bus wiring and Ghia boring stuff.

I have a hard time getting anything done, outside of work, when the temperature is under 32 degrees, so I can understand why the gasket sealer wouldn't cooperate.

I was just saying to upgrade the pistons/cylinders if you needed to buy new since the 87's are about the same price as stock and it sounds like you need a muffler now. Its not all bad having the stock Bus they are tons of fun to drive and they get tons of attention.

Sorry no garage time for me this weekend I just played lazy all afternoon. During my morning jaunt this Sunday. Jack (my doggy) thought that he would please his master by ripping up my new engine gasket set. Well master was not pleased when he arrived home. Which then confused poor Jack. I believe that he will not try to please master again by destroying gaskets. Yes Jack and I have made up after the incident and things are back to normal again I hope.

Sorry its been a while since my last Bus update. I have finished the Carb and Fuel Pump rebuild and I have started on my Dizzy. I have also removed all the tin from the engine and the evil gland nut. I have successfully removed all of the exhaust nuts without busting a stud it was a triumphant victory. I will be replacing the studs and installing new ones with anti-seize. I have pulled the heads and pistons. The rings are still beveled most excellent. I have measured my cylinder bores and they are 85.5mm so its a true 1600cc.
I am missing a few bits like the disappearing Hoover bit and the correct Bus Generator mounting plates. Anyone have extras? let me know.

Are you going to make it or buy it? Will it still fit in the garage after you put that on?

Yep that's what they are roo bars. Only sold in Australia back in the day. I read a whole 20 some page post on the samba yesterday about them. I also saw one for sale Down Under for $40 in their money. Shipping costs would be through the roof.
My mind keeps wandering. Today I am thinking about an entertainment center for the Bus.
