Hmm. I was going to finish up my motor but this might be more fun. Who is going? Can we just show up or do we have to preregister? What if we just plan to watch and hang out?

Just coming to watch is fine. Seeing as they are calling for rain and snow showers pretty much throughout the day now, there is a good possibility I might not show. If I do show I'll almost certainly bail on the VW and bring my Toyota instead. Too bad we couldn't have had just two more days of great weather. I'll get up, check out the weather, and make a decision then.

I am thinking I may wimp out. I am ready for a quiet day tomorrow. If the weather was nicer I would probably be there. Definately plan to check it out and give it a try next year though.

For those interested, the new Furrin autocross schedule is available at: www.furrin.org/schedule/This schedule does sometime change, so you might want to check it from time to time. Also, pre-registration will be available online for some of the events in the next couple of weeks.

You can see the event details here: www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=10125If you want to attend, you should definitely pre-register. You can do that right there at the "myautoevents" site. I may still be bug-less at that point, but I hope not. If so, I'm second driver in another car anyway, so it isn't a crushing blow, but I really want to run my Bug!

Hi all. The next furrin-group autocross is this Sunday (father's day - I think that means most of us are allowed to do whatever we want, no questions asked!). This one is at the Drag Strip on 131 where GoodVolks also has events. This is usually a very fun course. Here is some event info: www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=10476Hope to see some of you there! I'll finally have my bug out, which will be nice. It was such a drag being forced to drive in a 911 instead: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueSo3di9tWc&feature=PlayList&p=26003F0107526D1F&index=0I can't even begin to explain how much that 911 (a 1980 911sc) feel like a very powerful, very nice, very well put-together beetle. Except the Porsche was much (MUCH) easier to deal with "at the limit" than my little VW is.

It was a great race. Wish there had been a few other classic VWs there! I've decided I just have to get a different steering wheel for autocross though. It was so hot and I was sweating so badly I actually had trouble holding onto the wheel a couple times! I'm also tall enough that even with the seat as far back as possible my hands on the wheel sometimes hit the tops of my thighs during a race. I wasn't quite on form. This was my first race with a new shifter, and I managed a couple major goofs. Nothing like hitting 4th instead of 2nd at the beginning of the long straight to mess up your time... My suspension mods feel good so far. More time will tell me more, but my initial reaction is that I'm very, very happy. Here is a videos (all 4 laps combined in one video). Most recent race is the top video in this list: www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=26003F0107526D1F
