The Furrin Group Autocross on Nov 8th at US 131 Motorsports Park is on! The rain date will be Nov 9th. I will post further details here as they become available.
Things you need to be aware of to pass tech: 1.) Effective Seat Belts 2.) Battery Secured (note: bungee cord and similar is NOT ok) 3.) All Loose Items removed from interior 4.) Good Brake Pedal 5.) Effective Throttle Return 6.) No Excessive play in steering
Its been a while since I've done any tech inspections, but these are the biggies. There are other items also. Number one reason to fail tech is loose battery. Loaner helmets are normally available.

How much to race? What time does it start/end. Might be interested depending on a few things going on. How far is it from the dinner?

For more information or to preregister go to www.myautoevents.com and search on "furrin" to find the event. I would expect that most of us would want to run in the vintage class.

Ill check it out. If the weather is a go, and I can get there for check in on time (4 hour drive remember) Ill be there. Even If I cant participate I may show up hoping there are fun runs near the end. If the weather is that bad Ill leave the little vw in the garage. Id be towing it if I take it as I got too much stuff to take this trip . Dan

Chances of fun runs are pretty slim as this event usually has a fairly large turnout and the facility lends itself to long runs (60sec or so). Furrin Group events usually have fun runs for participants, but not people that were not registered for the event. But everything is subject to change, so you never know.

Looks like so far only Rudy (in a different VW!) and myself are registered. It would be great to see a few more VWs there.

If it does not look like rain (it does) Ill be there. As of right now though its a 60% chance of rain. Also Id have to leave the house at 6am to get there on time for check in. So...... If I do all this and it rains what do I do till 5pm? ? Got a playstation?? Cause my best friend that used to live in grand rapids now lives in Ohio so there would be very little to do for me but drive around and go shopping which I really dont need to do. DansAm

I got a Playstation 3 even. Plus 2 garages full of VW stuff and a Ghia. I live in Kalamazoo about a 20 minute drive from the track.
I to plan to hang out at the track unless its raining.
Are you able to register at the event or is it on the web site only.

Well it looks like Sat is not going to happen. Sunday the 9th is still a possibility. Here's a copy of the e-mail announcement I recieved:
"Folks,
After watching the weather reports on the local TV stations and the Weather Channel, I have concluded that Saturday will not work for the autocross due to rain showers. On Sunday, the Weather Channel says 30% chance of showers, but they are Lake Effect showers.
At this time, I am still shooting for an event on Sunday. If it looks like the precipitation is only the morning, the event will still happen! Please preregister or email me that you are coming. Check your email late Saturday for any cancellation. If you don't get an email about cancellation, assume the event is still happening. I hope all you folks who signed up for Either, or Sunday only, will be there!
Setup will start at approximately 8am, registration 9-10. If you are coming from the Detroit/Ann Arbor area, please let me know. I will make sure we get you in, even if you are late. I would like at least 30 cars for this event to break even. You will at least get 3 runs that are long, fun, and fast!

Here's the latest word:
"Well, the weather looks iffy, but I say, "D*** the weather, full steam ahead!" I will be there 8ish for setup and I hope others show up as well. It won't be a fun, cold event without you!
And the lower the entrant count, the more fun we can all have!
So if you are not doing anything on Sunday, come out to the autocross at US 131 Motorsports Park, Martin, Michigan. Setup starts around 8am, registration 9-whenever! Runs start as soon as we can! Runs end when we run out of daylight....
Curt Rosenstengel"
