The road trip looks like fun ((((BUT)))) That is the same night of the drive over there. Are you guys kinda pooped by then?? Or what. Also I noticed that there is a 5.00 charge for the cruise... Whats up with that? Im not sure.... I want to do the cruise but on the day I got there is not sounding like as much fun..... Youve done it hows it work out?

Usually we get there around 3:30 - 4:30 and get bored fast at least I do anyway so a Friday Night Road Tour and Cruise - In sounds like a good time to me. They never charged for the cruise before but this year it says they have prizes and activities with the cruise so I am assuming you end up taking something home. Also charging is a way to get a committed head count.

There is a long standing tradition for the club to go out that night as a group. I will let Dustin explain the details.

Well not much to explain but its been our tradition to go to Ryan's steakhouse/buffet. Nothing like steaks on a buffet all you can eat for about $8 as well and its close to the hotel. I plan on going back to the show grounds after we eat for the live entertainment.

Heard about your club through Glen. Was going to make your Holland show but didn't want to deal with rain and had other things I could do in the dry. However, I missed the opportunity to see who might be going to the Funfest as I intend to attend. I attended in 2006 and had a great time.
I will be leaving Friday morning and taking two lanes as my 67 single cab with a Puck trailer doesn't like interstates. My current plan is to eventually pick up Illinois Route 49 south of Kankakee. Some people I caravaned back from last Funfest suggested this route and it was fairly smooth and free of large towns. Will then pick up Highway 40 in Casey, Il and then on to Effingham. FYI, there is a cool covered bridge (large and restored like it was in 1800's) just west of Greenup, Il. You have to get off 40 but is very close (mile or so) and worth the side trip - great pics.
Not sure how many of you will be going to Funfest but if you are doing the slow two lane thing starting Friday morning, let me know and maybe we can caravan (always safety in numbers). If not, look forward to meeting some of you there. I will be camping at the show and will probably be the only single cab with canvas tilt and an Eriba Puck camping trailer.

Hey there rogerrabbit,
We leave Friday morning and meet up with everyone in Benton Harbor then take 94 to 65 south and cut over to 57 south on 10 and head into Effingham. Part of this route is 2 lane backroads and we never do over 60-65 on the interstates. Maybe you can still caravan with us since we don't go very fast.

Dustin,
Thanks very much for the offer, but I will stick to the two lanes all the same. I kind of enjoy the different scenery that you get by taking two lanes. Besides, I can barely reach 65, let alone hold that speed unless I have a good tail wind. The few times I cruise any distance on the interstate I like to find a nice slow semi and pull in behind. Kind of boring, though. With the canvas tilt acting like a sail, reduction gear boxes, and a trailer, 55 or so seems to be my cruising speed (and engine doesn't run quite so hot). Thanks all the same.
P.S. Where do you meet in Benton Harbor and what time? Depending on when I get going, might be able to at least stop and meet.
