I have a summer time gig, at Sears Product Repair in Oshtemo, get laid off about Oct. each year, so I have to go hunting, fishing and general goofing off. Get called back in mid March and start it all over again. I like the job and the time off gets me a paycheck and the ability to hunt, fish and goof off. I use to sell hay all winter long but last year sold most of it(3200 bales) to one customer and didn't have to deal with it, though it didn't bring the high price it would have later in the winter, early spring and my book keeper(Karen) knew exactly what I got for it, so I didn't have much mad money. Bills? What bills? I let Beth open the mail, so that these are not a problem. She takes care of them from the proceeds of her efforts at the library on the behalf of the City of Zeeland. I'm semi-tired from a career in manufacturing engineering, although about half of my time was spent in production management. Nowadays it is delivering auto parts for Auto Value, spending Tuesdays with grandson Jack (the best day of the week) and goofing off more intensely the other three.

I've been in the HVAC and refrigeration field pretty much my whole working life. Started with a residential company in high school and move to supermarket refrigeration. I now work for Trane doing everything from office buildings on up to the chillers that supply cooling in buildings like UofM hospital. In fact I work on the chiller for the A/C at Henry Ford Museum Steve G

I am responsible for almost every adolescent sex offender in Ottawa County as a Juvenile Probation Officer. I am finishing up a Master's in Public Administration with a Criminal Justice emphasis (December can't get here quick enough, for then I shall graduate). I am a trained mediator who volunteers his services for the good of mankind, facilitating them to talk to each other. Interesting idea I know, people resolving issues by talking to each other ;-) I am starting a nonprofit organization to help Haiti like my parents have been doing since the late 70s when we lived there for 6 years. Next trip is 4/29-5/7; any volunteers want to go? I love 80s music and cars, but am somewhat mechanically-uninclined unfortunately. (Esp considering the one-off VW I own)

I do production scheduling for Denso. Denso makes automotive heating and cooling components for companies like Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, GM, Ford, and Chrysler. The majority of my working career has been related to automotive manufacturing of some sort. In my spare time I like to do wood working. Here is a sample of stuff I have made: home.comcast.net/~brenhartman/index.html

VW was not on the list, sorry. I like to remind people at work that "it's only car parts, and they are not for VW's!"

Before moving to Michigan, I lived in Louisiana and worked as the engineer for Brister's Thunder Karts. They made go karts like you see at Tractor Supply. (Now you know why I am called Go Kart.) We then got into the utility vehicle business with a vehicle similar to a Gator called the Chuck Wagon (Trail Wagon at Tractor Supply). The company merged with Manco go karts and became American SportWorks. It was a cool job but I was under appreciated and under paid. An engineer for one of our suppliers went to work for a different company and when he needed another engineer, he called me with a better offer. Now I work for Ausco Products designing brakes for off highway vehicles. Everything from ATVs to John Deere tractors. My recent project is a disc brake system for custom golf cars. Most golf cars have little drum brakes that are fine for a normal golf car. But, if you start making them heavier, carry more people, put bigger tires on with lift kits, or all of the above, the drums can't handle it. Shameless plug: If you want better brakes on your golf car, print out this link and ask your golf car dealer to get you some: www.auscoproducts.com/index.php?page=ameritorque

I work at General Motors in Detroit (at HQ). For the first 14 years, I worked at Chevrolet in various service and sales positions around the country. I have been at Saturn since 1999 (first at Spring Hill, TN, then Detroit), and am managing the wind-down of this brand. It is very likely that I will be the last employee of Saturn (wonder if that will make the history books???).
