Hello everyone...My name is Chris Parker and I live in Grand Rapids. I recently..actually last week, purchased a 1972 Karmann Ghia from Detroit. (Pic Attached)...It spent most of it's life in San Jose, CA up until 2 years ago when it was shipped up here. Hopefully.. I have a good one! Hope to bring it out to some of your events this summer! This is my 3rd Ghia.. My first..I sold when I moved to GR in 1998. I never should have sold that one... anyways, my second was a disaster...I sure hope the 3rd one is a charm.. we'll see.... Thanks! It has the usual cracked dash pad.. and a few dings in the doors.. so I'll be looking to have some minor paint/body issues addressed.. would anyone know is it possible to still obtain OEM/NOS parts or are reproduction parts pretty much the standard now? More detailed pics coming soon....

Someone else from GR that's great plus you have a Ghia.
You can still find OEM/NOS parts but you really have to look and know the details about what you are purchasing. You are also going to pay top dollar too. There are also some good companies out there producing good products and there are some producing junk. Your best bet is to find a supplier that deals directly with your make of car. There are 2 that I can think of off the top of my head just for Ghia.
Well have fun and ask questions

Welcome Chris, it's especially NICE to have more Ghia owner's in this little group. They actually make us sit at a separate table apart from the others at meetings.

They actually make us sit at a separate table apart from the others at meetings. You BETTER be joking right there! I can't believe you would say something like that.

Chris, Welcome to the club. It is nice to have another Ghia lover. At the next GTG meeting or other club gathering , we'll sit in the middle of the table. So far I know you are the 4th person, AJ, Art, Aki and you, owning a Ghia. I'm also working on the 77 Bus. Hopefully I can drive it this spring.

Welcome Chris!
I am sure Art is joking. At one recent gtg ghia owners ended up at a ghia table but it was random and unplanned. Next thing you know '67 owners will be segregated! Just kidding!

Well now I know in the future.. Ghia owners, separate table! LOL.. Thanks AJ for the advice..the only place I have gotten parts from in the past is KG Parts and Restoration.. hopefully that's one of the places you were thinking of... First item in the spring though.. is new tires. The current tires have cracks on the sidewalls... any recommendations other than coker tire?
