Just thought I would bring this up again....
I do enjoy the MAM funfest. The trip down with the group is a blast (even if you do have to go home and get a trailer!) The traditions that Dustin and family work to maintain are nice ones. Same hotel, meal out with the group, hanging out in the parking lot at night, etc.
I don't like the way MAM handled the change from a free to a paid event at all. I think it is terrible business on their part. Should have been handled much differently. Should have been publicized way in advance of opening the event up for registration. However, I am not sure this is reason enough to not go. I do think it is reason to voice our opinion to Mike Yeager though.
Honestly, I would prefer to attend Larry's. I really like the show, swap, race format. It is too bad Larry's and the Funfest fall on the same weekend. If they were on different weekends I would be working to go to both. Lately, I have been thinking we need to try to get the message to Larry and Mike Yeager to try to prevent these events from hitting on the same weekend. Last year the Bug Run conflicted with Larry's and we heard about it. We then worked to avoid the conflict for this year.
So, I wanted to reignite this conversation to help us decide if we are going to go as a club to funfest or if we are going to do something else. Other options I see are Larry's and the new event that Harsh Winters worked to put together, also on the same weekend. Obviously if we choose Larry's or the HW event we will not be going as a full club since some are going to go to funfest pay or no pay.
