Oh wait my deck lid is still installed. To all you Beetle guys if I wanted to now I could lay a sheet of plywood down over the engine hole. Then take a nap in my engine bay with the deck lid shut. I am even 6'-7" Tall but would have to curl into the fetal position. ;D

Folding back seat, folding front seats... 6'3" guy here. Not exactly a california king but if you are tired it gets the job done.
I really wonder why more people don't put T3 or T4 motors in ghias though, that would be nice for doing things like that.
Glad to see I'm not the only tall one in an ACVW, people have a hard time believing I even fit, let alone that I'm comfortable in it.

I have finally fixed my foot problem. No more removing my shoes to drive my Ghia. I have stretched my pedal assembly out to accommodate my large feet. See I have also ran new Clutch and Accelerator Cables and I will keep my old ones as spares. I have finally received the correct Main Bearing and was over my cold and check what I did. No more yucky cracking yellow paint. There still is a bit of paint on it mostly in the hard to reach and see area but with full tin you will never see them.

Nice job on the pedal work. I'd like to do that but I also have my speaker kickpanels to deal with as well.

Looking good AJ. I like the pedal widening. How did you end up taking the paint off?

Removing paint is not fun. I just used 1 can of Aircraft Remover (paint stripper) in a spray can. Just spray and scrape and repeat. I also enlisted the help of Steven to help scrape.
Last night I finished removing the paint from my carb and assembled it.
I too like my new pedal assembly I can't wait to drive it. I plan on keeping my old pedal assembly in the car just in case something happens.

The paint stripper will work 100 times better if the parts are warmed up first.

Here is my long list of Ghia activities that I did this weekend.
Installed the pistons and heads Measured crankshaft end play Installed flywheel Torqued up Gland Nut to spec. Installed the clutch Installed the engine in the Ghia Rebuilt and cleaned the Generator Cleaned the fuel pump Rebuilt the 1970 only Distributor no more 009 for me but my current one is a vacuum advance only. So I will keep the 009 for a spare.
Its been a busy weekend but I don't feel like rushing things so I will be driving my truck to the GTG/Tech session. The good news is that I can carry more tools.

It would be if the guy that has his tins could get them powdercoated.

Powder coating is finished now comes the fun part just the install. The good news is that everything is clean. Just assemble tab A into slot B.
