I'm sure many of you have seen this in the original magazine article. I just happened to run across the site online: www.ecosmotors.com/We still have a few years (decades?) to wait before battery-technology catches up with most of our real-life driving needs, but it is still great to see our beloved VWs being used this way.

Talked to Ray at Ray's Tire yesterday about his eBug. He has a 48V fork lift motor and controller in his with 12 deep cycle marine batteries wired in series and parallel to get the 48V. He has just gotten this up and running and currently gets about 35mph on level ground and range is about 5 miles. He tried a regenerative braking setup, but it backed off a coupler nut and disconnected his motor. He is still developing the car and has lots of things he is going to do yet. It is pretty neat as it stands now in my book.

I wanted that Bug, He got it from my old Boss at The Gusher. He bought it from LKQ to use for parts and I stripped it of what he could use on his 73 Super. I wanted the car as partial payment but it did not happen. Before I could tell him he sold it to Ray.

George has a Bradley GT for sale. I think that would make a really cool electric car. Being light weight it would be perfect. This Bradley is missing the doors and rear window. I see it as a open air car cross between a roadster and a dune buggy. You could close up the engine bay so no one could see the elec. motor. Wish I felt I could afford to do that project.

I've seen an electric bradley GT for sale on autotrader. It was done with some old school stuff but neat none the less.

Is the car still on autotrader? I'd like to see it.
