Did the mexi beetles have a little different front fender and headlight? Those pics are pretty cool. I miss mexico, its a lot of fun down there. What part of mexico was he in?

I'm pretty sure the fenders are the same but the headlights on the newer ones are h4's in the magazines he brought back alot of the Bugs are running upgraded headlights.

Are the trim rings different too, it just looks a little funny?

Can you buy them and bring them into the US? Prices sure seem low.

I did some reading before on The Samba about bringing a Beetle back and it made it seem like 1970? or earlier could be brought in no problem since emissions did not matter back then but newer ones are a no go however if you drive a rusted out bug down there and buy a 1970-2004 Bug you can swap everything except the tunnel of the pan over and drive back home in your "restored" Beetle. Some of the guys on there have done this and said you just pay a few locals to help you swap everything then give them the "old" car to keep as they will still drive it down there. There was another option mentioned. If you lived in Mexico for a year or more you can bring you car back when you move so you could legally have a full Mexi Bug if you willing. I say its not worth it and so does Carlos.
Steve,
Carlos said he wanted to bring that Brasilia home but he would not be able to get back into the country with it.
Jerry,
I don't think the trim rings are different either. You can buy H4 conversion lights for Bugs here and they don't take different rings.

Kuston 1 has the H4 conversion cheap. I bought them for my beige car long ago. I don't think the price has gone up.
