Gang - with the snow falling it's time I started thinking about finishing up my Beetle over the winter. I currently have bare floorboards and am going to be installing a fairly stock carpet. What's my best option for between the carpet and the metal - the stock tarboard and carpet padding? Quietride / Dynamat? I know Quietride makes some pre-cut kits but I have no idea on how good they are. I have easy access to the 2-part stuff from Juliano's (similar to dynamat), but it's not pre-cut.
Any other stuff to consider? Anyone with experience on the Quietride stuff - how it fits, how much you like it, etc.?

I bought mid-America motorworks sound deadening pre-cut kit. Haven't put it in yet though.

How about the roofing insulation that Chris Vallone talks about in this VIDEO? I'm curious what folks think of that - I'm considering trying it sometime & would love thoughts on this topic as well

Dale, I did a lot of work with damping materials for speaker building. My opinion is dynamat is ok. In general weighted vinyl products are all about the same. As messy and as much of a pain it is to work with/remove, it's hard to beat for the price. Going to tap the trees this spring Dale?

Dirk - Thanks for the info on Dynamat. FYI: Done sugarin' each year, no reason to stop - got a few folks who plan on me giving it at Christmas I'm probably not going to do any noises reduction stuff. Love to hear about other products - krafty, keep us informed with your choice & experience
