What is involved switching to E85 for the drag strip? I'm running two IDF's 44 and 10.3 compression. Ideas??

Mostly gaskets, fuel lines, and jetting. The alcohol in the E85 will destroy conventional fuel lines and rubber parts in the carb.

E85 is great. I tried it once and plan on trying it again. E85 isn't any more corrosive then regular fuel. I did a test several years back with E85 and 87 octain. I soaked a bunch of vw rubber seals out of a gasket kit in both fuels. To my surprise, the rubber seals in the 87 octain wouldn't pass a stretch test where the E85 did. I started by increasing my main jet sizes by 20%. Your compression is good. Next make sure your fuel delivery is up to par. I ran a holley blue fuel pump with AN lines. I also was running 48 IDAs at the time that were modified with larger fuel bowls and larger neddel and seat valves.

I've been reading that octane is higher but a less btu's. Another plus not a carbon based fuel so no carbon deposits. I've also oil takes longer to turn black because no carbon in fuel. Third thing engine seem to run cooler. Sounds like a win win but would like to see it and not read it.

About the only down fall from back when I was running it was the consistently and it was harder to find. Now that more cars can run it and more staitions sell it I'm hoping that'll be different. Also I wish here in Michigan, that we would start making E85 out of sugar beets. From what I herd a lot of sugar beets were tilled under; what a waist.

Ya, the recommend compression for a NA car was 10:1 or higher. Stainless steel rings were also recommend, if your running a new set of Mahles p/c your good.
