The City of Firsts Volkswagen Club is pleased to announce its new partnership with the Kokomo Summer Concert Series for the 10th Annual Oktoberfest Volkswagen Cruise In. We are excited to announce this partnership with an organization that promotes unbelievable concerts at Foster Park’s beautiful Performing Arts Pavilion. Our new venue has a lot to offer and we know our guests will be impressed. For our 10th annual cruise in we are returning to a Friday Night - that’s right - Friday Night! That is not all; back by popular demand is the Swap Meet! We have the entire park for our event which will allow vendors to set up beginning at noon.
So, we have a few changes for 2014 but there is one thing that has not changed - this is still a FREE event! That is right - Free Swap Meet Spaces, Free Car Entry, Free Admittance and a Free Concert! We are confident this will be another successful event, just like all previous Oktoberfest Volkswagen Cruise In’s and would love to have you as our special guest. Additionally, the charity we will be supporting this year is Bridges Outreach, a local community, school and youth program.
Friday Night, September, 26th
The evening festivities will ramp up at 4:00 pm and at 7:30 pm Zoso will bring us The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience!www.zosoontour.com. The Los Angeles Times hailed the group as being “head and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes” and the Chicago Sun-Times declared Zoso is “the closest to the original of any tribute.” This will be an awesome experience and we are so excited to be able to bring this caliber of talent to you for FREE! This promises to be one incredible evening that you will not forget.
For a good parking spot you may want to come earlier because we are expecting over 200 cars! If you want to take a stroll downtown to visit one of our fine restaurants/pubs or visit our downtown merchants, the park offers a walking path just for that – what more could you ask for! Saturday, September, 27th
Step back in time with us for an up close and personal tour of A Summer Place, a working mid 20th century town. If you yearn for the simpler life of the 1950’s you will not want to miss this cruise! We will be visiting A Summer Place where you can travel through time while ordering a malted with your burger and fries at the super cool diner, admire the tanker bicycles in the service bay of the Standard Oil station, and walk through the doors under the original marquee of the ISIS Theater. Rumor has it that “The Bus Movie” will be showing. This place has some awesome photo opportunities, so get your cameras ready! Please visit www.asummerplace.org. We will be leaving from Foster Park at 9:00 am for a fun filled cruise with lots of surprises.
BONUS OPPORTUNITIES! There are three additional Festivals the same weekend! You will have an opportunity to visit the festivals that are happening within 30 miles from our event. The James Dean Festival is held in Fairmount, IN and the Gas City Ducktail Run is in Gas City, IN. If you have had enough of the “car stuff” you can head south to Atlanta, IN and visit Atlanta’s Earth Festival.
Sunday, September 28th
We will meet at the Courtyard by Marriot for a 9:00 am breakfast in a private dining area. This will give us an opportunity to say “good bye” to our special guests and some of the finest people on the planet.
