Hey, heard about this site from the pastor at my church, and thought I would check it out. I have been into VWs since I could drive, and met my wife through a VW club. We collectively have 3 between us, and love to drive them all as often as we can. Here is a pic of my wife's 63 ragtop at Sacramento Raceway- it is a street/strip car that runs low 14's with a full interior. Hope to meet some more VW fanatics here, also on the Samba as DropgateLefty. Tom Attachments:

Welcome Tom, It's a long drive but ought to think about July 20th for our Bug Run. Car Show, swap meet and 1/8th mile drag racing. You'd be in the running for longest drive, LOL!! Kenn(my name) Ruffuss (my Type 181's name.) Black Bart (my 62 vert.)

Welcome. Nice bug. What is your engine set up? It is a 2185cc with dual 48 IDA's built by Ray Vallero of Vallero's VW Werks here in Auburn, CA. The center mount fan shroud is a one off creation of his that he made solely because he was told it would never run cool enough. The motor is narrowed and the IDA's are canted in 15 degrees to allow for a stock decklid to close over them, and for the motor to be removed without taking the carbs off. Plenty of room to get your hands in there as well. The trans brace was recently installed to allow for good launches at the strip without breaking things.

Thanks! My wife has owned it since she was sixteen and still loves it like crazy. It was her first car, and it has really come a long way. She "Cal Look"'ed it back when it was first popular and it hasn't changed on the exterior since then. Under the hood is a different story
