Yup I did this... I asked Rudy to come over and assess my 66. Last year it had good power and pep. This year nada? Checked the timing, carb, plugs, ect ect. While checking the engine I felt there was not as much exhaust coming out of the tail pipe and it was a lot quieter? I held my hand over the tail tip and nothing? Pulled the muffler off and it was clear at the exhaust pipe, but looking into the muffler and???!!! WHAT?! , , , , , . WOW pulled that out and the power is back and so is the NOISE.!

I was fitting the rear bumper and kept bumping things so I put that rag in there to stop any thing from falling into there. Well it worked.!

It sure did! Guess the louvers inside the muffler worked like the hairs on the inside of a pitcher plant. Easy for the bugs for slide down into the plant because all the hairs grow pointing down. Those downward facing hairs make it hard for them to crawl back out of against the grain.
