The first bus tends to get lonely. This phenomenon is especially prevalent when a single bus encounters a herd of beetles and feels threatened. Consequently, it lays down a trail of 30W pheromones that other air-cooled Volkswagens can sense for hundreds of miles in all directions. This initial trail can draw in the lonely buses who are surrounded and teased by a barn full of domestic muscle cars, or the curious loner beetle who only stays for a short while. However, once the initial pair of buses meet, they quickly court one another via parts exchanges, and start to exhibit nesting behavior. As a result, they begin to communicate with other buses through unused AM radio frequencies to broadcast a message saying "This is a safe-haven, all are welcome here." Despite the 30W wafting on the summer breeze, some closer, yet older, buses ignore it. That is until the combined scents of, and messages from, their brethren pique their curiosity about this new home complete with extra parts and beetles willing to share a pint of oil over stories about the Fatherland.
Surprisingly, I wasn't even under the influence when I came up with this.
